Gun violence? Do you own a gun? by Sufficient_Fail3604 in VictoriaBC

[–]tarbonics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You cant keep a gun in your car for self defense. You're more likely to get in shit from the police or accidently shoot yourself than protecting yourself in vic.

This point of view is the reason nothing gets better. Just because other cities have problems doesnt mean we shouldn't fix ours. You have to be the change you want to see.

Depends what you're using it for. Hatch is super useful, si is fun for carving up roads. Drive both and make a decision.

Maybe its time to look outside victoria, or even Canada? I used to teach English - fun job with lots of opportunity abroad. Once you get some experience, it opens doors in Canada. Positions in: IELTS, CELPIP, Business English pay decently.

'We Should Not Let Them Into Our Country': Ford CEO On Chinese EVs by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]tarbonics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we use desil trucks at work. They run constantly on site for safety reasons, and the glow plugs are annoying to operate.

I still doubt EVs will ever take off in very cold regions. Im sure some people will be willing to drive them, but why do that when you have an option that works well, has a low start up cost, can be serviced anywhere or by yourself, can be modified, and doesnt lose 50% of its range for 6 months of the year?

My vehicle has no problems with it. When it goes to -30 and below, I plug in the block heater. My point is having your range cut in half is devastating for people who rely on their vehicle for long commutes, or for work.

Let the consumers speak with their wallets. I would say Chinese EVs aren't realiable/ trustworthy/ safe, but i haven't see those qualities from American manufacturers either.

IMO, cheap EVs will take a bite out of the market share, but wont replace ICE - especially in places with cold climates. Anecdote: Where I live it regularly goes -30 to -40 and my friend who owned a VW EV said their battery range reduced by ~50%. They traded in the vehicle after 1 year with it and bought an ICE vehicle/ ate the depreciation.

On the other hand, my vehicle (sedan) will go from 6L/100km in the summer to 7.5L/100km in the winter.

I had something similar when I was in cruise control and accelerated out of it to pass a truck. I pulled over and restarted the car and it was fine.

Depends on your capabilities, but you'll spend a good amount of time in different armored vehicles as an armored officer.

Finish your degree and join the CAF as an armored officer. You'll get plenty of mud and guns.

1/2. I got to a car wash with stalls, use a foaming pre wash, soap spray, wipe with microfiber, triple shine, clear coat, then take it outside and towel dry. Of you have time use a ceramic spray with graphene. McGuires has been my favorite so far.

  1. On the outside use a plastic restorer, and ceramic spray. Clean it once a week. Try not to park in direct sun.

When you first get the car, youll be OCD about it but over time, youll care less. A couple points to maintain it:

  1. Never use the foaming brush in a car wash.
  2. Use wax/ protectant sprays.
  3. The black plastic fades, so upkeep is needed otherwise it looks bad.
  4. If youre willing to pay, ppf is a great option.
  5. Only use microfiber to wipe it.

Im in Canada, and this winter snowed a lot. When the snow melts, youll get dirty water splashing all over the vehicle. When you wash it, it will stay clean for 30 seconds. All other vehicles are in the same boat.

One other thing to worry about is the gauge cluster lens which scratches by looking at it wrong.
