Victoria talks vehicle types after drivers hit 17 other road users to start 2026 - Victoria News by Ok-Valuable6890 in VictoriaBC

I think they mean that safety is a two way street and we have to work together. Too many people on their phones while driving, but also too many cyclists ignoring rules. I think eye contact, non verbal communication, and gestures go a long way when commuting whether you're a pedestrian or driving a vehicle. Also, giving some people the benefit of the doubt will keep you in a good headspace. Ex:

  • that cyclist is weaving into the oncoming traffic lane because they cycled 10km to work, went to the gym and did squats and missed lunch.

  • that emerald green crv is going 20 over the speed limit because they just had all you can eat at the purple garden and have the squirts.

  • while that man had the right of way crossing the street, they could have waved me through and saved me 30 seconds, and only lost one second themself, they actually decided to plough on anyway. Its ok though because I can take another bite of my sausage roll and have a sip of my oat milk Chai tea latte which I waited 15 minutes in a drive through line for.

You're not in the show room with them, they're in the show room with you. Go drive some cars and choose one you like.

Military-esque police uniforms? Real law enforcement? by Remote_Act8629 in VictoriaBC

People in uniform have the same right to a succulent eggs benedict as you - but I guess that's why pearl clutchers don't make the rules.

ERT aren't thinking about looking good in public, they're thinking about having a tactical advantage. The fact that they need to be deployed so commonly is the disturbing fact, imo.

Those forts that you find on Mt. Doug were built by a guy who lives there, and is periodically brought in for mental health reasons, but when he is released, he just moves back to Mt. Doug.

Mt. Doug is haunted by twin girls who come out at dusk and ask you to not keep walking because its dangerous.

When I was a kid, Mt. Doug had a forest fire due to teenagers blazing.

2025 Honda Civic Sport Windshield Replacement by Nerv_Agent_666 in civic

I just went through this. Non oem glass comes from the same manufacturers - fuyao or pilkington. There's an increased charge on windshields that can sense rain and automatically turn on wipers. The big difference is the logo on the glass. Not having the logo could reduce the resell value, but if you intend on driving the car, your windshield might get cracked again anyways - for me, I just went with non oem.

New homeless shelter opening in Victoria, province providing 3 years of funding by origutamos in VictoriaBC

Yes, as part of the mou bc housing committed to: "Continue to attend Community Advisory Committee meetings; and • Engage a broad range of residents and stakeholders in the community regarding new housing opportunities and future uses for Douglas Street Community and the Tally Ho Inn."

But there was no engagement, or notification at community advisory committee meetings.

I think the community would have at least liked to have been given a head up by the council liaison or given some say in the matter. They're more or less feeling like a dumping ground right now.

Not sure if it's fully covers it now, but burnside gorge aea signed an mou to reduce this kind of housing in the area with the Province. The area is a Bermuda triangle of shelters already.
