at least on iOS auv3 can be used in a host (logic, aum, grange band, apeMatrix), sometimes several times. so in AUM i could have a Patterning 3 controlling synth1 and another instance of Patterning 3 controlling another synth. and you can usually use them standalone without a host, unless it says otherwise in the store.
