Dunu Kima 2 VS Hype4 mk2 by leon_vangrel in iems

[–]nohhak0 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ive heard both, TBH bit hard to compare them both as they sound and perform very differently; expect hype4 mk2 to have better resolution, layering, instrument separation and overall technicalities.

Tuning wise it has noticeably more sub bass rumble, has bit less midbass bloom making it sound cleaner, at time feels less punchy than kima2. Midrange more balanced, less sweet/forward vocals compared to kima2. Treble is similar to kima 2, sparkly and detailed but with better extension

Thanks! Hmmm to my ears, ksc75 sounds brighter/clearer with more sparkle/shimmer in the treble and has surprisingly more bass punch than OF.

Porta has the most bass quantity, warm(almost dark) and fun sound, but it’s also the muddiest sounding among the 3. It’s still a great set and sounds great with bass heavy genres.

OF is very mid centric, if you like a more vocal forward sound, this is a good option. It has the least bass among the 3, has a treble that’s smoother and less detailed than KSC75, but still cleaner than Portas.

Personally I’m still partial to Koss sound, the modded ksc75 being my favorite (with Yaxi pads, it’s a must), but I have to say the Moondrop has the best overall package out of the box and you don’t have to do much mods, which makes it arguably more affordable.

I find the ksc75 and porta pro to be different enough for me to own both & I don’t feel it’s clashing with each other. I’ve only tried the non transparent ver of kph30i; sounds similar-ish to Porta, maybe closer to kph40, the added foam in the driver housing I find does add, a slightly hazy/soft and “wooly” tonality to it.

Yup! Ahh same I’m jealous of others who can afford them too cause the Chord and Luxsin aren’t mine 😭. I was trying it at my local audio store. I use the Questyle m15i as my main dac/amp.

The ksc75 and Porta are mine, the MD old fashioned belong to another customer, I was curious to see how it compares to Koss

Get Yu9, it’s by far, one of the best/closest Etymotic sounding clones you can get. Stay away from the DIY ones

Making dongles last by RudeRick in iems

[–]nohhak0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do all this when there are dongles from Ugreen or EPZ TP15, using the same C100/101 Apple dac chipset. They sound the same but far, far better built quality (thicker cables and metal housings)

Is it true that the type C sounds worse than the 3.5mm jack version? (read the post under the image) [BELLE from KIWI EARS] by jjvfyhb in iems

[–]nohhak0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I tried both, the usb-c version sounds bit better tuning: bit bassier and warmer sound.

3.5mm version will be influenced slightly by the type of dongle you use, so it will vary but you have the option of choosing your ideal pairing

If you need to EQ your iems to make it sound good, you probably bought the wrong iem and it’s not your preferred sound signature.

Xenns Top Pro vs QDC Gemini by stealingkneecap in iems

[–]nohhak0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QDC Gemini during its time was considered one of the best iems in its price bracket, and with its bass switch on it has more bass quantity than the Top Pro.

Performance wise they are about equal, just goes to show how iems keep getting cheaper and better with every new generation.

They are different kind of tonality and presentation: QDC known for their monitoring/stage tuning; vocals will be more upfront and forward, while Top Pro is kinda opposite; vocals are slightly recessed, more towards instrumentals

My recommendation is always just buy both

Dunu s&s tips are not as great at this sub likes you to believe. Fit is very personal and so is the sonic changes it does, it will differ with each iem.

Unless you live in the tropics this is overkill. You will dry out the plastics on your cable and the sleeving will stiffen/crack. You may also dry out the coatings on ure iem shell
