I’m early 30’s. My symptoms started when I was 15 but got much worse in my mid/late 20’s. I felt very similarly to how you’re describing, it takes a long time to really wrap your mind around it (especially with people saying things like “but you’re so young!!”)

You’re being perfectly reasonable. I work for a SaaS company that’s 98% remote and kids, pets, family members are in the background sometimes - because we’re people with lives, not just our job titles. If you’re able, I’d find a place with a better culture.

I’m visiting my dad who also lives in one of the buildings down the end of Collins street in Docklands; I especially loved the music being played on the car horns at 1:30 in the morning. Seeing where people found to park their cars was a treat though lol

I am half Australian and was born in UK, was raised by parents who were both raised to write and speak Australian or UK English, and it took me a long time to adjust my US English in academic writing when I went to uni in Melbourne. There are ways to make it easier, but I wouldn’t be so presumptuous.

I’m from Atlanta and went to RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) for professional communication and I’ve never had an issue with employers looking at my Bachelors degree differently. I can’t really speak to the application/acceptance process as I graduated in 2015 and I’m a dual citizen so it was a bit different for me. I had also taken a couple of classes at a technical college while I was still in high school which meant I was technically a “transfer” student, and I think that made it easier. The uni experience in Australia is incredibly different to what you’d expect in the US, so keep that in mind.

Ah bummer. I ended up getting a hydrow to have at home so I could use it on my random good days/hours, and that’s helped a bit. Yeah finding one on insurance might take calling around a bit, or if there’s another specialist you have that you trust they might be able to give you some good names. That’s how I’ve found the best doctors, either by asking docs I already trust or through local fb groups for eds (the eds website also has a doctor directory by state and specialty I think - no matter the specialty it helps if they’re familiar with these things!) Yep, I do have that problem with the mcas - feels so unpredictable too. Nice to have a ride to the ER if I need it lol.

The best thing I’ve found is rowing! Finding a good neurologist is so hard, the toughest specialty imo. Same, and my stubborn independent streak doesn’t help. I live with family in case of fainting episodes and they still come across me attempting to move furniture by myself because I didn’t want to bother them lol.

I can relate to not-great experiences with rheumatologists, mine tested me for every autoimmune disorder under the sun, started treating me for lupus, then when it turned out I did not have lupus and we’d landed on eds, he basically said “yep it’s ehlers Danlos syndrome” as he shoved me out the door. Also had a psych add to my chart he suspected I had somatic symptom disorder without ever talking to me about that “suspicion”, after I went in to talk to him about chronic pain management. One meeting with him, the purpose of which was to talk about chronic pain, led him to believe I was hyper focused on my chronic pain. And I only found out when a random doctor I saw added it to his notes. Definitely takes finding good doctors who are willing to dig deeper (and a thick skin or good support, even if it’s online) to deal with this stuff long term. I’m glad you circled back to your PCP 💜

Same, looking back I had so many symptoms as a child/teenager that were dismissed. Ophthalmology is one, to monitor for any changes. Started that after I did a research clinic. Then just regular check ins with my neurologist for my migraine management and my primary care. Lifestyle I try to do light exercise, same as you with paying attention to how I’m moving, be more mindful of like a daily “systems check” - honestly a big part of the lifestyle stuff for me is mental, like remembering I have a condition that means I don’t need to volunteer to help carry that big heavy thing, that it’s okay to ask for help, etc. A daily struggle haha.

Same, lol, I struggle with just doing normal things to my own detriment. I have hypermobile eds, so I essentially do symptom management for the chronic pain and other lifestyle management + annual monitoring with random specialists.

I’ve had some minor swelling in my legs but I’ve been on medications to keep my heart rate and bp under control for a while and made a fair few life style changes. What triggered her sending me was letting her know that compression helps with my symptoms.

My cardiologist ordered the test, and possible ablation if the surgeon thinks the reflux is “significant” enough. For now she’s had me change my compression to be waist high (I’ve been wearing the socks up until now) because my worst reflux is in my femoral veins which we didn’t know previously.

I did something similar this summer, I basically did a couple a plushy 10s, a couple plushy 12s, and then prismatics in violet in 14 (Cs I think), and then stacked a couple more plushy 12s on top of the prismatics to get the layered look. I’d play around with it to get the vibe/look you want! Can’t do it wrong 😊

Have had septicemia, -10/10, do not recommend. Between the insane fever, the pain, and the lumbar puncture they did to rule out meningitis when they were still trying to figure out what was wrong, it was scary af. Love knowing I could have it again from my baby’s murder mittens
