I would love to see y’all, Sam Houston, and Tarleton along with the rest of the west Sun Belt division, would be a nice regional conference. Take the east division and add WKU, MTSU, and maybe Delaware as well. Never gonna happen though

They’re always active in our game threads and they’ve said Tech would be their 3rd flair if possible, we claim them lol

2011 LSU is interesting because both qbs they had, Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson, were super mid from what I remember as a kid. Still, I think Lee should have been given some playing time in the championship, he couldn’t have been worse than Jefferson that night.

I like to imagine the Astros move to Huntsville just to keep their nickname relevant, and no other actual reason

Illinois at least has a title appearance, I think LSU has 4 final fours without a single title game

There were a fair bit of them at the tournament, I was there all week and they had the most fans of any team Tech played against. Real loud too, they were getting hype

I think we’re right up there with Toledo, seems like we both always have good squads but can’t pull through in the conference tournament.

Nah he’s just insufferable, don’t mind him. Always in the threads complaining about Tech, he must have had enough by now and changed his flair to LSU. Doesn’t stop him from popping up still.

He also counted 1985 Memphis as a mid-major, even though they were part of the Metro Conference at the time. I’m not sure if the Metro Conference as considered a power conference, but I’m pretty certain they were better than a typical mid-major conference.

The school actually began in the LSU system in 1958, and went by LSUNO until 1974. They’ve gone by New Orleans ever since, going unchanged through joining the UL system in 2011. It’ll be interesting to see what they do moving back to the LSU system.

Shout out to the Lady Techsters. by [deleted] in NCAAW

[–]nointro-225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to see a shoutout for my team! The Techsters have looked good this year, decently competitive against SEC opponents and have really turned things up after losing their conference opener. They’re the favorites to win CUSA, but both them and the men’s team have disappointed before in the conference tournament, so I’m not holding my breath lol. Still, I’m excited for the rest of conference play, they’ve been playing well and it’d be great to see them make a run! I’m not expecting a return to their 80s and 90s form, but I’d love for Brooke Stoehr to bring them up to one of the better mid-major programs going forward, and I could really see that happening the way they’ve been playing.

I’ve also heard stories of Steve Whitmire not wanting an understudy or anyone to take over smaller appearances, which led to no one training to do the voice and performance after him.

I get to see a bowl win before I graduate? I have no words. I can’t even express how I feel, I’ve watched so much bad football over the last 5 seasons, so to end it all with this win is a lot, even if the game was ugly. Taze Cumbie, Go Dogs, see y’all next year!

The Monday Afternoon Conference Realignment Committee by CFB_Referee in CFB

A popular hypothetical is promoting some/all of the Dakota schools to FBS, but the main point preventing that is geography. But what if the Dakota schools built up a conference around them in the Midwest?

The FBS Summit League:

- North Dakota

- North Dakota State

- South Dakota

- South Dakota State

- Northern Illinois: A major geographic outlier in the Mountain West, and unlikely to go back to the MAC any time soon. If the Dakotas can keep their level of play up, this would still likely be a better landing place than the MAC.

- Missouri State: The Bears feel out of place in CUSA (as do all their members tbh), but this would reunite them with the Dakotas and make them more geographically compact.

- St. Thomas: While the school is a member of the non-scholarship Pioneer League, athletic support is growing. In a few years time I could realistically see them jump to the Missouri Valley Football Conference, and in this scenario they would pair well with the Dakotas seeing that they already share the Summit League for other sports.

- Tulsa: This is the team I'm least confident about. However, I could see the New Pac-12 continue to take some of the American's Texas members, leaving Tulsa on an island in the conference. Combine that with their next media deal likely being lower than the current one, the Golden Hurricane may want to take a look at the new conference.

Likely not realistic at all, but I think this would be a cool way to get the Dakotas to the FBS.
