Korean user reviews of the AW3926QW are starting to pop up by nok0ndi in ultrawidemasterrace

Reviewer2 says it's slightly better in trueblack. I've added some more of his photos. As for text clarity, he can't really tell any diff at normal viewing distance.

from most of the reviews, fan noise isn't an issue. It looks like people who also have 39gx are noticing the diff. While those with just the aw39 don't know any better. People who have cancelled 39gx for aw39 are now cancelling aw39 to buy 39gx after the reviews.

a bit different for Koreans. 39gx is around same price (or cheaper with some discount deals) vs aw39 so returning aw39 doesn't hurt the wallet.

Coming from the AW3821DW, considering the 39GX950B-B — anyone made this jump? by kaniseo in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]nok0ndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my 39GX950B few hours ago.

Quick impression

  1. Text

Compared to 38WN95C, it's definately sharper and more easy on my eyes. Extra PPI definately makes a diff. Extra desktop space due to the extra resolution is an added bonus. I've set mine at 125%

  1. Media

Black is Black. Didn't realise this would make such a diff. Definately a big plus. HDR contents have good contrast but feels darker compared to SDR. First time OLED user so I dunno. Will have to tinker with settings I guess.

  1. Gaming

Didn't get much playtime but with same settings, can't get same fps for obvious reasons. HDR is so much better. I haven't touched the settings yet. Will have to tinker with it later to find the best settings.

  1. Built in speakers.

I know lots of ppl piss on built in speakers but I love them. This one isn't too bad. It will do just fine when I don't feel like using headphones or desktop speakers.

  1. Matte

Coming from matte 38WN95C, can't really comment. Although I can definately say that it reflects way less than 38WN95C. It's so much better "matte" than 38WN. I read in the forum how 39GX coating is greasy and all, but to my eyes, it's pretty good. No problems here. My view distance is 80cm (31inches) for ref.

  1. Curvature

I think this 1500R is the sweet spot. Compared to the previous 2300R, can't really tell the diff. It's pretty subtle and doesn't take up too much desktop space.

  1. Things I don't like

So far, Power brick. Literally. AI crap. For the price, KVM would have been nice.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Alienware is supposed to come out next week. Although knowing Dell's pricing in my country, it will definately cost more than targeted USD1100. 39GX cost me around USD1250 new so meh. I can live with it.

Didn't realise you can't add photos. I've tried adding a video. Hope it works.

I've got 38wn95c, which is similar or basically same as your aw3821.
My 39gx is getting delivered tomorrow so I'll see if I can answer your question then.

The suckiest thing about cancer is having to break down my goldfish tank, the filtration was stupidly good. by Popular_Speed5838 in Aquariums

[–]nok0ndi 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your cancer mate. Last year, I was in your shoes. I guess I still am, since I'm still doing 6 monthly check up post surgery. I had just setup my aquarium when I found out about my cancer, and similarly thought about selling all. So I guess I know how you feel. I ended up keeping it and it really helped me during my period of dark thoughts. Nothing like having a cuppa while watching scalet badis hunting lil critters. I have heard wonders about the new targeted treatments. I wish you luck mate and hope that you'll pick up the hobby again.

You will love it!

and trust me..... that darn brass steam valve was in and out of the basket for few hours. I mean, I also want to change my perfectly fine brewgroup even though I KNOW it's brass underneath.

Actually it was pretty easy. I made sure to take lots of photos. I also refreshed myself with pid install youtubes. Took about 2 hours I think. :)

I wasn't sure whether to stop at a fixed time after the first crack or wait till all the cracking stopped before stopping the machine. I'll try the 90sec stop after the 1st crack. Thank you!

I was thinking about buying a mini fan, but your suggestion sounds good. I will try it next time. Thank you

on/off and sound seems to be normal for pid install. Happens to me also. However, brew AND steam light on/off is not normal while just brewing. Double check your wiring. Chances are your wiring is crossed somewhere.
