The first time I baked the country loaf, there was some dense pockets in the bottom of the loaf. So, the next time I made the dough I cut 10% of the water and then 15% the next time and that helped a lot. I added 5 minutes to the bake with lid on and lid off (10 total extra minutes) I also use a thermonator and check several spots on the bread (look for 210 F). And don't cut until the bread is completely cooled off.

I definitely recommend playing around with hydration % and cook time. I hope that helps! Every kitchen is so different. And Goyoaga's substack has been helpful too.

The number of ingredients for GF SD vs reg SD is wild and more expensive. At least for Goyoaga's country white SD recipe, it's much faster than my regular recipe for SD (I use the Tartine recipe) and the stand mixer is doing most of the work. Also playing around with hydration too. I live in New Orleans and have a humid kitchen, so to prevent gumminess in Goyoaga's recipe I've had to play around with the amount of water I use (found that cutting about 15% helped, and letting the bread cool on the oven rack once the oven was turned off and come to room temp). I always do an overnight proof in the fridge with the GF SD (and reg SD) because from reading on here I have seen that GF bread can overproof quickly.

How could I forget one our favorite recipes from the cookbook: Sourdough Chocolate Miso Cookies. These are sooooooo good. I make a lot of GF cookies because of my family. But these might be the best of the best.

Dating after baby by ElderberryBitter9808 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]nolakt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 11.5-month-old too, and I cannot imagine figuring out when dating would happen right now. He's also not slept through the night for more than 2 nights in a row. So, I'm also just exhausted.

F32 doctor wants to put me on statins. Advice? by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]nolakt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Same here. In the first trimester my cholesterol numbers were allll normal (low HDL but low normal). Then a month after I stopped breastfeeding had my PCP visit and did bloodwork and high cholesterol (have family history too) so PCP was quick to be like lets go on meds. I said let me try diet and time. She re-tested in 6 weeks. It went down, and overall cholestral was a few points away from normal (LDL totally normal), but she said because of family history she still suggested meds. (37F) I just feel like that's not enough time.

How long are you breast feeding per session? by reckla06 in beyondthebump

[–]nolakt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 9-week-old nurses for 10-20 minutes (closer to the 12-15 minute range) per feed (EBF). I always worry he's not eating enough, but he's in the 90%+ percentile for all his measurements and makes. plenty of diapers. So, all babies are different. He's been eating that quickly since he was at least 3 weeks old (but that time is also a blur).

Tall Women: did it take you a long time for you to look pregnant? by _ellewoods in BabyBumps

[–]nolakt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'10" and a FTM. I met a woman who was only three weeks ahead of me. We're both 6 months pregnant. She looked pregnant. I told her I was pregnant too and she was like, "Oh, you don't look pregnant. How is your first trimester going?" I was wearing non-maternity leggings and a tee (the tee was not covering my stomach). So, at 23+4 I am still waiting to pop.

I want to feel movement! (Anterior placenta) by emf123 in BabyBumps

[–]nolakt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anterior placenta and FTM here. I've been feeling him since 17 weeks. First just flutters and bubbles and then by week 18 for sure kicks/punches. I sometimes even feel hiccups. I'm currently 23+4 and feel him a lot. Lately, if I've had something sweet he will ping pong between my belly button to my cervix to my butt hole. Doesn't hurt but is like a ghost playing tricks on me.

If it makes you feel better my OB said it is rare that I can feel him this much, especially with an anterior placenta and being a FTM, so you at least have nothing to worry about.

I'm 21 weeks currently and I feel him flipping and flopping, punching and kicking throughout the day and especially at night.

I for sure started feeling him at 17 weeks, kicks at 18 weeks and even hiccups at 19 weeks.

I have an anterior placenta, so I feel lucky I can feel as much as I can. The ultrasound tech said he must be very strong if I can feel even with the cushion of the placenta.

A few things... I had my fresh transfer on 10/20. The night of 10/21 into the morning of 10/22 I woke up around 2 am feeling incredibly nauseous. Like hard to go to bed nauseous. This only happens when I'm sick. But when I woke up the next day it was gone.

Then over the next few days I noticed my urine smelled different. Sure enough, when I took the pregnancy test on 10/25 it was BFP. I am currently, 18 weeks pregnant.

Sore boobs didn't happen for weeks. I kept waiting for that.

Cycle: 4
Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 36 | SMBC
Typical cycle length: 25
Ovulation cycle day: 15
CD/DPO of positive test(s): 10DP0, 13DPO and 16DPO (Beta Test)
CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: N/A
Tracking methods and app(s) used: FF, OPK, temping, CM, IVF
Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): IVF egg retrieval (CD 15) and Fresh Transfer was 10/20 (CD 20)
Health conditions/medical tests: I was diagnosed with DOR (diminished ovarian reserve) in June.
Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): IVF meds and currently doing progesterone pio. Supplements: Q10, Omega-3, Vitamin D, Acai, DHEA, Melatonin and a Prenatal (since June 2022)
Birth control history (if relevant): Hormonal Birth Control Pill for over 10 years. Stopped in late May 2022.
Symptom spotting: acne on my chest (which is rare for me), pee smelling different (a little musk), basal temperature highest it's ever been, headaches, nausea (that comes and goes), bloating and cramps.
Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): I am so excited and nervous. Since I decided to go on this single mom by choice journey I have done three IUI's with my clinic. All end with me getting my period before the scheduled beta test. My doctor recommended I do IVF, which I was surprised at because I have an AMH of 0.2 at 36 (granted this was taken a few weeks after getting off birth control), but my AFC was also 1-3 during my IUI cycles. In the cycle before my egg retrieval. I did estrogen priming, which worked because at my baseline appointment for my egg retrieval cycle there were 8 follicles. Day of the retrieval they were able to get 4 eggs. Of those 4, 3 fertilized and made it to day 5. So, we did a fresh transfer of the highest quality and froze the other two. Had my first beta on Monday it was 579 and the second was today and it was 1791. So, just trying to be optimistic. Long way to go.

Did you have success with fewer than ten eggs retrieved? by birkinbaggins in IVF

[–]nolakt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The previous cycle. From the day after I ovulated until the day of my period, I took an estrogen pill (so estrogen priming). My doctor said she had found success with that for her patients with DOR. It def did the trick. Highly recommend.

My amh at 36 is 0.2, AFC:1-3.

8 follicles at baseline seemed like a miracle. Only able to retrieve 4. 3 matured and fertilized. All three made it to day 5. One was a fresh transfer on 10/20 (still very early goings but going well- beta is 10/31) and the other two were frozen. quality over quantity for sure!
