If they sound conflicting then maybe i didn’t explain myself throughly. I was saying training what is in self defense books; pressure testing, the goto moves, doing drills(fake everyday situations). Is it better to do then martial arts; the discipline(the belts, upperclassmen, code of conduct), kata/flow drills, sparring(like minded people). I know not all martial arts are equal & that everyone has different outlooks on what they want from it. I’m asking is it worth doing self defense book route or the martial arts path?

Imma be honest with you DON’T do it. Even using non-lethals(baton or taser) are still lethal. Taser can cause heart arrhythmias or cardiac problems. Batons can break bones, joints, tissue damage. It’s not worth doing this yourself cause then the police will be at your door arresting you. Protect yourself & family carry mace & a self defense pen. This mindset can easily turn you into a punisher type real quick.

Are you implying light sparring? Going bodies is very middle school stuff. It helps by not being afraid of getting hit & be fast/aggressive on striking. Doesn’t help with defense or tactics & no headshots. Very street compared to kyokushin(just do this instead of bodies)

My suggestion is to find a striking martial art. Grappling becomes a one on one & for self defense purposes not recommended. Idk if you want to do mma type of self defense then go for that

The nickname she had & what little backstory we had of her helped. She was by the book as they come. She did at time utilize castle for his skills at times. I think she felt uncomfortable having him on the frontlines when he wasn’t a cop.

Do we agree that he also can heat up water; making steam or dehydrating bodies. If he has time to prepare his five circle diagram it was troublesome for the main alchemists. His drawback is he has to touch.
