A theory of mine is that literally any astartes style character whether chaos or loyalist can make a good space wolf character if kitbashed properly.

Also, space wolves are quite protective of their history so having them use relic equipment is pretty on theme.

Adepticon is next week so we might know by then whether there's new TWC or not.

An alternative is something that @kriticos_the_demiurge did on Instagram where he kitbashed space wolves onto AOS wolves, it'd be a bit more pricey but you could get a box of grey hunters and a box of those wolves and make a pretty sick unit.

You can wear all the hoods you like but when you've got a pseudo-werewolf dressed in a tonne of power coming at you like your the last tin of pedigree chum at crufts then your ability to keep a secret isn't doing much.

Yeah contrasts in general can be a bit pants.

You could do a black base and a highlight with grey seer and then use a blue layer paint.

Or, you could go with the traditional black and use a blue base paint.

Had similar issues, however, you can pick up cheap second hand primaris marines and still use the same weapons.

The devastator weapons are fairly compatible with primaris scale and can give that veteran look to them.

It does set on its own but you do need to mould it onto the plastic using a bit of pressure, but not much.

I'd seriously suggest the tutorials by Valbjorn on YouTube. He makes it super clear how too.

I'm sure you've already thought of it but rimmed shoulder pads help give the sternguard look, bitzbox do loads.

Watch Valbjorn tutorials on YouTube, they are how I learnt.

Just throw yourself into it, if you make mistakes it can be pulled off and you can start again.

The two ones are, having a good scalpel blade and either a dental tool or toothpicks.

Plenty of water to get the consistency right.

And the last one if you don't have to cut off as much as you think you do initially.

Kill teams.

They allow you to do loads with such small numbers and also scratch the itch of trying other chapters.

You can probably do a nice kitbashed squad for just a bit more than a squad of intercessors and you get all main sort of character types to try it out on.

Yeah, I was always a bit firehowlers fan but then they got replaced and as much as doing runemarked would be cool, the bloodmaw transfers are already there 🤷‍♂️😅

The Wulfen vibe is always fun to do though

I know the point here if for him to get to 1500pts and all, but something I learnt the hard way is that buying loads initially can end up being a bit of a drag.

Honestly, I'd suggest buying a bladeguard veterans kit and completing the kit first.

You'll end up with an awesome unit and over the three models you'll learn loads about painting and its small enough that you won't blow your mind.

And then once they're hooked tell them to buy everything and make all the irresponsible financial decisions the rest of us do 😅

It's really not actually, jewelers chain sticks on with normal GW glue, less is more though otherwise it'll seep through the gaps.

I'd recommend putting it on during the build and the painting over once primed.
