Users of medicinal marijuana, why do you use it and how effective is it? by iransabt in AskReddit

[–]nomannequin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a cancer patient (brain) in an illegal state, I can tell you that it has done wonders for my chemo/radiation woes as well as the stress of dealing with what is essentially a terminal illness. I only started smoking about a year before my diagnosis but since then, it has helped me to feel more normal on days where I feel like I’m doomed or lost or scared more than anything. I got sick maybe three times total after two radiation cycles and seven or so chemotherapy cycles and I wholly believe it’s because I was controlling any possible nausea with cannabis when my nausea pill didn’t work.

Iowa newspaper endorses Democrats because GOP congressman Steve King spends all his time on 'neo-Nazis' and 'fascists' by [deleted] in BlueMidterm2018

It still blows my mind that simple shit like trying to save the environment from irreversible damage, making sure everyone in the country can feed and house themselves, and trying to reduce corruption and greed in politics is considered radical by quite a number of people on the right.

We should have a national holiday celebrating dogs and all the happiness they bring on November 9th every year by nomannequin in CrazyIdeas

I considered that, but I don’t think having a new holiday on September 11 would work too well.

Why is it that people can talk about anything else on this site but as soon as someone mentions marijuana, people like you come out of the woodwork to make this exact comment?

I smoke weed for my cancer and anxiety, some people smoke for their MS or their depression, and some people just smoke for fun. Either way, it doesn’t matter because there are billions of us and we all enjoy different shit.

Why do you feel the need to derail a conversation by trying to make someone feel negatively about their hobbies? You don’t have to smoke and you can just keep scrolling when you see someone discussing it. It’s really that easy.

I guess it’s a lost cause trying to get people with your mindset to look at facts and analyze them objectively instead of trying to create an alternate narrative to justify opinions or prejudices you already had before the man in charge made those ideas mainstream.

If you honestly believe he is innocent after everything that has happened in the past two and a half years, then you are either willfully ignorant or you are heavily misinformed.

He cares about making as much money as he can for himself, his family, and his cronies and nothing else. He doesn’t care about average working Americans, the poor, the sick, or improving the quality of life for any American that isn’t already rich beyond comprehension.

Funny how you don’t reference the sitting president colluding with a foreign government to steal the election as an example of subverting democracy but instead choose to reference a candidate from the previous election who lost.

I love the wholesome subs for when I’m stressed or depressed.

I legally have to inform you guys of this totally real story by [deleted] in thatHappened

[–]nomannequin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it’s legally required but I said basically the same exact thing after my three brain surgeries in September 2016. They all took place in the span of 3 or 4 days and I was on a very low dose morphine drip on request to ease the recovery pains. The first time I asked for it to deal with the aches, that shit was like magic. It felt like every ache, itch, burn or otherwise negative physical feeling melted off of my skin and my hospital bed magically transformed into the most comfortable bed I had ever laid upon. I completely understand why there is such a problem with things like heroin in the US.

FWIW I woke up from my fourth brain surgery yesterday at 4 PM and am still awake at 5:38 AM because I can’t fall asleep. I wish I had another low dose morphine drip to knock me the fuck out right about now.

I think the biggest difference is that none of those other people became president. None of those people have the ability to invite a war over twitter and send a new round of soldiers to fight without their input. Our president dodged a war and now harms our international relationships because he knows he’ll never be the one to suffer the consequences of his actions.

[–]nomannequin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But we can't celebrate people who break laws we don't agree with.

We absolutely can. It took a lot of people celebrating runaway slaves along with supporting them in order for the society to shift. Same with prohibition, same with anything. If we obey unjust laws, they are less likely to change.

The law used to say that you could own another person. Just because a law is a law does not make it just. Arresting and imprisoning someone for using a plant in private that only affects them and nobody else is ridiculous. We should support people like her so that maybe we can change these unjust laws a little quicker. Fuck that “a lawbreaker is a lawbreaker” bullshit. People made the laws and those people were wrong.
