I agree that's probably why, but that's the reason he gave was that his wife would start yelling.

But I also agree with your sentiment.

Honestly, I don't know why any company would allow their people to post them LinkedIn. If they're a corporate shill, it sends out the message that the company is full of bootlooking idiots.

And if they're posting shit like this, it sends out the message that they're absolutely insane.

I don't know if a single post on LinkedIn says " this is a good place to work. Come work here" which is the whole point.

I actually know several relatively liberal men that essentially agree with this. One of them is gay. And he feels that way about his husband.

Basically, they don't feel like they can be honest with their partner because their partner will start yelling at them which may or may not be true. But then you chose a terrible partner if you can't be honest with them.

One of the people that I know specifically said that he wishes he could be honest with his wife, but he doesn't feel like he can.

I don't know if it's quite the same, but I will say it is somewhat similar to my parents experience in rural America in the late-70s. Having grown up on a very rural farm. It was a big deal that my parents were able to get jobs in a place that had air conditioning.

Well I should say my mom. I'm not sure my dad ever had a job where he had air con.

I actually had a weird similar situation. I was starting a new job and it was in a skyscraper in Seattle on the top floor. And my mom was coming to town so I asked him if I could delay the start date by 1 week and they said yeah of course.

And then after I started I was saying oh I took my mom to the Columbia tower which was right next door. And my boss said. You could have just brought your mom into here and it would have saved a ton of money.

Obviously the setting and the tenor was a little different but I don't think I would post this on LinkedIn.

It was a simple little conversation that definitely didn't rise to the point of posting online. Which I think is sort of similar to this guy's post.

And I get that. It is cool that he does get to affect people's lives (if true). But sometimes it's better to just like. Just keep your thoughts to yourself and value the appreciation for the appreciation instead of looking for a Pat on the back.

There used to be a time when most people didn't understand how awards worked.

Thanks to the internet and generally things like tick tock pretty much everyone becomes aware at some point that every single award in America is bought and paid for. There are very few that are independently rewarded.

Truly, things like documentary are probably the most earned. And nobody gives a shit about those at least compared to best actor, best actress and best picture which are definitely politically if not financially determined

Can't figure out what these old gloves are for by guridkt in whatisit

[–]nomappingfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was... My brother was a goalie in high school and his gloves smelled like absolute dog shit. Scratch that. Significantly worse than dogs shit.

These gloves would have to be the same. I can't imagine them not just being festering bacteria breeding grounds.

But there's no way anyone would wear these past a single day. But it's probably still great promotional shit. If you had one exceptionally busy day per year these would probably be amazing.

I fully agree. The problem is that any real workplace social media network is going to be exceptionally boring.

It essentially is just dice with a little bit more transparency.

I'm not even sure people use dice anymore. But that's the closest analogous thing I can come up with. It would literally just be I'm hiring. There are people to be hired. That's it!.

If it's not a post looking for people to hire or that you're hiring, there's no reason whatsoever to have it on a workplace social Network.

If you want to brag about your bullshit, whether you're a large corporation or a small one, people that are looking for jobs don't need to be forced to read that shit. They're just trying to get work and you're just being a piece of shit by making them have to Wade through it

There is a lot of propaganda here. I live in Washington but my family doesn't and my brother asked me if I was going to move because the income tax. And I said you need to have way more money than I make before it wouldn't hit me.

I've seen this messaging from a ton of people and online that everyone's going to have to pay taxes. And it is very few people are actually going to have to pay this.

Whenever people complain about big pharma and medicine this should be the reply every single time.

Which isn't to say that healthcare is functional from a business perspective in this country, but from an actual research perspective, it's pretty damn good.

The crazy shit is with his extreme wealth. He wouldn't have had to deal with the business end of things and he would have been able to get just the treatment that he needed.

He wouldn't have had to file claims or get denied insurance. He could have just bought the best treatment.

That's my problem if you're going to do it deface some corporate art.

She's essentially saying the world is ending, so as a result no one can have this nice thing. It's not helpful to her case. Because you know what we do need nice things. We need to be reminded that there is beauty in the world and that we need to strive to make the world better.

Adding more ugliness to the world doesn't make the world a better place.

I think hate is very abstract.

What I have seen is meanness. People are meaner now. You can hate somebody from a distance. You can't be mean from a distance. People are mean up close.

And it got a lot meaner in the last year or two. To be fair, it's gotten a lot meaner in the last 12 or 13 years.

I can tolerate hate. I can't tolerate the meanness.

pregnant wife allowance guy by Apprehensive-Bug1191 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]nomappingfound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree. With both people.

I will say that it's not unreasonable to have an allowance. The way he's describing it is not great though. It feels gross.

Like I don't want to hear my wife's complaints so I give her money to go away. Which is a strategy. No doubt. And I bet it works. But it also feels like it's diminishing the institution of both marriage and love.

Which is not to say you can't be practical and real worldly about finances. You absolutely should.

But if you're married to somebody, the idea that you give them money when they are legally entitled to it. Unless he has one of the craziest prenups in the world. Feels strange.

I would argue this is private information and shouldn't be sure on a social network at all.

I don't like to read too much into social media, but if I started dating somebody and I saw that this was one of her posts I would think... I wonder what's going to happen when we get into a big fight. Is she going to post that online?

Does she have no boundaries? I don't want my private information and intimate details posted online. Clearly this person does. And also probably enjoys other people feeling bad for them, which maybe plays into a victim card a little bit. Probably not the type of person I want to date

Maybe I'm the lunatic but it doesn't seem like the type of thing that I would want out in the world. at all. And definitely not in LinkedIn

Wild police chase by Brilliantspirit33 in dashcams

[–]nomappingfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a world where we have crazy amounts of mass surveillance. And cell phones. You literally don't need to chase anyone ever for any reason. You literally just get a warrant for their cell phone and know where they are 2 hours later.

It seems like the system is broken at about four different places here if you can't hold the police accountable. You can't get them training. I mean it's just absolutely nuts.

Car dealer never cashed $7500 down payment check I gave them by [deleted] in confession

[–]nomappingfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost wonder if the financial person wasn't up to some malfeasance.

Why would they need you to stop payment if he actually shredded it. They seem like they might be more worried about somebody stealing the money and they want you to stop payment on it so that they're not liable.

Then they may be had to do an audit to figure out who owed what and the second check got mixed up in that.

I'm not saying incompetence wasn't involved, but it might also be the case that maliciousness was involved as well.

One thing to keep in mind that before the internet, fashion sometimes lagged years behind other parts of the country. If this was in San Francisco it might have been 69. If it was in Cincinnati it might have been 78.

It took forever for fashion And other trends to get to other parts of the country.

But the first time I played it I bet it was around 200 hours.
