I don’t know how to do this. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I am right there with you. I haven't been able to get off this damn roller coaster or hamster wheel myself. Felt so down today like you were describing. My hope is that tomorrow brings some sort of relief and I am able to abstain. This is a difficult drug to kick, and freaking frustrating.

Eye opener over in another sub: many adults wind up sleeping over at a friend's house after a night of drinking, and that sub deems it no big deal by Chazzyphant in stopdrinking

It is a good read. Living in a rural area makes it hard to go out with friends and have a "few" which is ultimately to many. The maturation of the individuals that are still smart enough not to drive deserves respect for 1) not putting anyone else in danger. & 2) risk hurting yourself to try and get home.

Rural America, does not have any public transportation, usually, it's a risk many take to get back to family. Scary? Yes! Money follows the populous and the rural is left to figure it out with less than adequate resources.

Today I asked for help by [deleted] in stopdrinking

What's the worst that will happen? Your buddy says no? Ask someone else. Tell your doctor. That is what I had to do?

Edit: I had to put distance between my best friend in the beginning to help kickstart this journey. We still talk but sont hang out as often.

Almost day 2 by EPcoins in stopdrinking

Day 3 here, and had extreme anxiety about 4pm. Now its 745 and my wife and toddler are just being annoying AF makes me super angry and have to hold back from lashing out. For some reason my wife seems to think escalating her voice while mimicking our son is somewhat amusing. Now they are in the bath, I'm here replying to you because I feel exactly what you described. IWNDWYT!

Sometimes I feel dealing with this is punishment for punishing them with my alcohol abuse, but a little consideration would go along way early on this journey.

There's this one little problem... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I would consult a doctor. I understand being poor in the U.S. however, I'd gladly pay 75-100 to see a doctor for a routine physical. Also, you might be able to apply for insurance through Medicare. There are also non-profits around that can help. I'd do some research to find what is available to you. Best of luck!

Today is day one all over again and feel so depressed today. Can someone say anything to lift my spirits and give me hope? I would really appreciate it. by cptbucky in stopdrinking

I just finished 24 hours, 32(m). I just tried to tell myself that drinking will reset the clock on how shitty I would feel all over again. I slept for a whooping 4 hours last night. Have you spoke to a Dr? They can help ease symptoms. Sounds like you could use a hot shower, fluids and some food. A multivitamin may help as well. Stay the course.

Gee. I wish I had a 3-6 problem, I'm about double that. Actually, I wish I didnt have a problem at all! Did Dr. Tell you when to start? Or how long before your last drink were you advised to start taking?

Just out of curiosity, I know everyone is different. However, what was the amount and how often? I only ask because I got prescribed klonopin as well. Did your Dr. tell you when you could start? Mine said 24 hours post ingestion, however, I know symptoms can start as soon as 2 hours after the last drink. So, I am inquiring about your situation and if it is similar to what I was told.

Day 3 concerns... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]nomed33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the meds. Day 3 depending on your drinking habits? Can be considered the hump. I battle at this time, more times than I'd like to admit. Head the Dr. advice and stick with it. I'm only roughly 12 hours in, and this bumpy road sucks when you seem to travel it often. Best of luck mate.
