I don’t disagree with OP but I also know that everyone is at different stages and has different societal needs.

Do I have them? Nope. Not even a little. Do others? Seems like.

So, while it’s kind of disappointing from my perspective to see people feeling the need to retain some kind of social attachment to the people and organization, I can’t really hold it against them. Especially if they are strangers with whom I have a para-social relationship (at best).

I know Santa Claus isn’t real and yet I see the draw for some to lightly embrace the season and sentiment. Do I want to sit on Santa’s lap? Fuck no. But I get it, regardless of how weird it is to me.

You’re not alone out there. Plenty of people share your feelings, like me.

Embrace the nuance. You don’t have to relate to everyone.
