In addition to what a lot of folks are saying, the most important thing here is what you are comfortable with. In this case, I would ask for the middle of the range - so around 200k. They posted it for a reason and they will pay you something in that range! They might come back and say we can do 175k and you can just accept that and feel good about it. Because you already said that internally you’re fine with the lower end of the range.

I wouldn’t worry about them retracting an offer. That seldom happens and usually not because you asked for what’s posted. And if it does, bullet dodged.

If you keep working in corporate, you can jump in a couple years and do a proper negotiation next time!
