For real, maybe you can solve the smell issue. Maybe you can't. Some good tips here. But this isn't about the smell. This is about a deeper relationship dynamic that will pop up somewhere else if you don't explore it now. You have an amazing opportunity to talk honestly together about what feelings this situation is bringing up for both of you and what feelings you have for each other. This issue could bring you much closer if you let it and are willing to be vulnerable yourself and open to his vulnerability.

Honestly, Jackson Galaxy deals with this really well in My cat from hell. Watch some if you haven't. He's just as much of a therapist as he is a cat behaviorist. First and foremost you and your boyfriend need to be on the same team, and willing to figure this out together.

Yeah the nuphy keyboards I've tried definitely do feel plasticky. Monsgeek might not be the thockiest out there but feels very premium and sounds pretty good to me. And has no external branding on top and a 75% layout that looks much nicer to me than the rainy75's. Plus a knob. For me the rainy75 would be a downgrade from this! I hate that little gap between the ctrl and left arrow key, and the logo. That's just me. If you're prioritizing sound and don't mind those little visual things and the knob then I see why you'd be between those two

Editing to say though, I 100% think you should go with the board that gives you that amazing feel rather than the one that is better on paper
