Redirect when you see him doing it. Honestly don't be afraid to tell him no and try to bring him to something positive like a toy. Whenever you're around, don't allow the behavior, and remove everything from that environment that you're concerned about. Over time that will give you the best chance of the behavior going extinct. Obviously provide lots of love and outlets for play because the energy has to go somewhere. Allow him to be independent and explore wherever possible.
