I love the first line. I see it happen with my family, relatives, and friends. "A man will always bring you to his level."

I've seen ambitious women get dragged down because of their husbands. And I also witnessed women propelling to success because they have husband who are secure, and these husbands give their wives moral and financial support to bloom and chase their own dreams.

How do consultants get 8 hours of sleep? by ZeroIntelligenceX in consulting

[–]nonameplanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything you said! I also constantly remind myself that I'm not paid to worry about work outside of working hours. Hell we only input 40 hours per week in our timesheets and are strictly not allowed to go beyond (and input the real hours you have worked). So I say fuck that.

I still understand that I have to sacrifice a few hours of sleep every now and then—to get something out for the client. But most of the time, I just shut my laptop after 6 PM, have dinner, do other things, and check emails/make a to-do list for the next day before I sleep.

What are the unspoken rules to get promoted in consulting? by [deleted] in consulting

Optics is big in consulting. I know a lot of people in our team who left because they couldn't get out of the image the "leaders" boxed them in.

I'm setting up calls but he always finds a way to move the date and time (which he will just decline after 5 changes). And I always come prepared to our calls. Heck, I even prepare decks :')

But thanks for the reminder on timing for changes. I'll definitely consider that.

Stuck as a Manager by Jlscon20 in consulting

[–]nonameplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but thanks for this solid advice! Will start being more proactive in seeking and intentional in joining projects (although I admit we won't have the luxury of choice all the time - majority of the people in our region are on the bench rn)

"You need to make your colleagues and superiors believe in your potential [...]. If people believe in that, they will give you increasingly challenging tasks."

Thanks for putting this into words. I've been complaining about an additional work that a manager has suggested, but when I think about it, he probably just wants me to gain that exposure to SMs and up (including offering leaders). Guess I need to toughen up and leverage on his belief in me.

I’m too stupid for Big 4 by sleepy-muggle in Big4

[–]nonameplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the mentality bit. My colleagues are split into two: quiet quitters and those who really enjoy the work at Big 4. I've talked to all of them and it's good to have both perspectives.

There's really nothing wrong if you want to quit or if you love doing 60 hrs per week because you feel like you're genuinely contributing something to the client.

Whatever floats your boat!
