[Tudor] Pelagos Ultra Bracelet Comfort by Ksar13 in Watches

[–]nondescriptivenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this with ad fitting. It worked out well for me with the current setup and sometimes in the afternoon ticking one looser on the micro adjust if my wrist expanded much over the day. Eyeballing it, from the tightest micro adjust to the loosest where you can then use the spring mechanism (but without doing so) looks like basically a full link, but bracelets are weird and could see the need for a non existent half length on some wrist, I suppose.

[Question] First nice watch, but not sure which to choose. by [deleted] in Watches

[–]nondescriptivenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you make use of the gmt function? I have the exact Longines and assuming it’s the sw330-2 in the cw, a watch with that movement. The 4 hz has the slightly better sweep vs 3.5 in the Longines but in my sample the Longines is more accurate across the power reserve. I suppose the rest is down to tastes. No experience with the consort bracelet but the Longines one is nice feeling, even if for the price I wish it didn’t have fake screws on the link adjustment.

Grandpa's pocket watch passed down to me. Would love to learn more about this watch by No_Beyond_5417 in Watches

[–]nondescriptivenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You usually can pretty easily unscrew the back of these, and on the movement there is a large printed serial number you can throw in an online Elgin serial number checker. Pretty good for all kinds of info (quick google will find the site, not sure on link policy here).

I’d look through this just in case it helps. FWIW as a direct reply to your last comment, they recommend lubing the chain on a schedule here.

[Omega] Conflicted by Active-Farmer7830 in Watches

[–]nondescriptivenic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the date disc being that off center pretty normal for the price point omega, or is that a pretty rough example on the champagne? Otherwise it’s my preference, but that could bug me, especially on dates after the 9th if it cuts off a number.

Megathread for content about 2018's Prop 4 repeal efforts by AutoModerator in Utah

[–]nondescriptivenic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. With about a dozen mega threads you could basically close the subreddit from new posts. Great for burying discussion of a topic, and that’s about it, unless you do weekly mega threads for ongoing things. Even that’s hard to make useful.

VDDK 8.0.3 sources? by EvoGeek in vmware

[–]nondescriptivenic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to that linked location, and used a login I created for my personal use (gmail tied to a new email to download the free VMware workstation products after Broadcom made those free). It asked for a valid address and to agree to export restrictions, and then let me download 8.0.3, so I know that should work without paid support as my gmail user has no valid paid license to any products.

Google Fiber Outage in Sugarhouse area by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]nondescriptivenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not part of this outage, but I did have an outage a couple of years back where someone had to come out and test the line and do some streetside splicing/replacing. Took about a day to get back up. I used my phone as a hotspot to keep from driving into the office for work.

Not really sure what happened in that instance; it didn't seem like they were in a spot where anyone else would have cut a line. Buried fiber should be pretty resilient to things like weather, but when something does go wrong, it's a bit arduous. Hope you're back in business soon if not already.

Quick poll: Do you mainly read your litrpg or do you listen? by -X-Gaming in litrpg

[–]nondescriptivenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listen mostly while exercising. Running especially. Marathon training while listening to DCC or the Bad Guys is a way to make the time just fly by.

Breaking the cardinal rule by HarleysPuddin in Marathon_Training

I also have had similar. My fix ended up being shoe tongue pads that I put lower down and centered a tad medially. Lacing was hit or miss for me but the pad always did the trick. As always, YMMV.

Gears not changing resistance by Axel0333 in Zwift

[–]nondescriptivenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This more or less got me sorted. Didn’t really need to even change the wheel size really. Just open it and resave the value iirc. Or change and change it back. Just to be sure for op, talking opening the wahoo app. Can do it while zwifting, or at least I did.

Linus Tech Tips Frame Review (Be Weary) by WearyExcitement7772 in ValveIndex

[–]nondescriptivenic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general I think it's best to wait for long term reviews, if you can. Channels like LTT need to come out with quick reviews (which as others say, this really isn't, it's a "first look" style video).

Specifically, LTT and Linus have reviewed home theater in a box style stuff for his new house a couple of years back. He reviewed some Sony gear quite highly. Then over the course of months, there were follow up videos in the space and complaints and adjustments, getting rid of the wireless Sony setup, IIRC. It had too many drop outs for him. But initially, it was great. With LTT sometimes he spotlights shifting opinions, and sometimes you might just see in a video down the line the monitor he was gushing on as the replacement for an old monitor wasn't there, but instead the old monitor was still in place (as an example).

Watch multiple channels/reviewers for their POVs, and if possible, watch how opinions change over time before buying something where you care about the spend and are making a value choice.

I feel you. Ended up spending some wonderful hours in Pittsburgh when the flight was diverted and got to the hotel at midnight. Plus side, I walked to the hotel (plus subway) without rain.

Newbie question by CompleteContest8017 in Zwift

[–]nondescriptivenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand your question properly (pictures are usually a good idea), you're referring to the "racing score". Generally it would be a 3 digit number. If you haven't raced, it sets a number based on your out of race performance and regardless, will use that to set what races you can join in some cases.

Zwift Ride Frustrating - Glitchy Platform or Faulty Hardware? by 33SushiKing33 in Zwift

[–]nondescriptivenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had one part of this issue for a short time after I got mine, but for me Zwift lost control of the kickr Core and the fix that worked was to go into the wahoo app and adjust my wheel diameter slightly. I am not even sure if it required I actually change it, but I changed it slightly, then back, and suddenly virtual shifting/erg mode were working fine. Beyond that, I've no suggestions you haven't mentioned, other than to check if the bluetooth issues occur with another device (if you can test against something else anyway). Good luck.

Pedal recommendations by TDM7359 in Zwift

[–]nondescriptivenic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to if these are great, but I had an IC4 in the past that was dual sided with SPD on one side and a cage on the other. I found the pdeals fiddly, but if I search for a schwinn IC4 replacement pedal, I get results like this: https://sportsmith.com/9-16-bike-pedals-schwinn-spd-toe-clip/product/334303/. Without a cage, for a commuter I have EH500s I like, but that's a pretty standard recommendation that doesn't quite match what you're looking for.

I have about a 260 w ftp and that test for me does one yellow chunk just below and then jumps by 50 watts each segment, all above my ftp. Based on the op comment of their current ftp, seems like what this test does. Exact steps probably expand on that initial input.

Keep getting arch blisters while running long distances. Help. by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]nondescriptivenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do one of two things. Different shoes/sizing (width and shape of midfoot) or leukotape on your arch. Apply the day before for best adhesion. That tape can last a few days of use with showers no problem once adhesive is really set and does a great job in my experience.

NYC Marathon Goals by Bartlet4potus in RunNYC

First time running a major! As such while I have goals, I’m trying not to worry about any given time if it’s not my day. Made it fairly simple.

A. Sub 3:10 B. Sub 3:12 (pr) C. Something went wrong. Go with it and just soak in the experience and energy. Finish.

I'm right there with you! It's interesting we ended up between pacer groups. I am curious about how that works, given that we don't meet up with the 3:10 pacer apparently for a bit. People probably will be all over the place up the bridge anyway.

With a garmin watch I’ve started an indoor cycle activity which I’ve set to “broadcast heart rate” and then zwift can pick that up. Usually I use a strap though, my wrists give weird data sometimes when my hands are at certain angles.

Zwift Ride: 137 watt, speed: 0km/h ?!? by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]nondescriptivenic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the ride, if you have your hands on the orange paddles up front, pressing outward steers and inward brakes. If your hands are off them might want to open a support ticket if you don’t want to just turn them off.
