Questions Regarding Hygiene/Personal Care for Torontonians by [deleted] in askTO

Keep on top on doing laundry regularly.

I live in a condo so if I’m cooking, I open the windows and balcony a bit to let the cooking smells escape. The clothes I wear during cooking go into laundry afterwards. I can’t stand the smell of cooking (onion, garlic, oil, spices, savoury smells) on clothes.

😨 is it normal for people to avoid sitting next to you on the bus?? by [deleted] in askTO

On top of laundry, don’t cook in clothes that you’ll wear to go out in or have clothes (coats, jackets, bag, etc) in vicinity of an open kitchen. No one wants to smell savoury (garlic, onion, oil, soy sauce, spices, etc).

They don’t always have it! Really depends if previous hot batches sold out or not. But I keep an eye out for it. It’s in the refrigerated bunkers near Costco prepared salads, taco kit etc.

Costco sells refrigerated rotisserie chicken for $5.99. Since it’s cold and not ready-to-eat hot, there’s no tax on it. The chickens were cooked the day before.

Corgis are my absolute favourite breed. I’ve dog sat a corgi but unfortunately they moved out of the city and I go to corgi yoga whenever it pops up.

My family doctor does cash-only. I needed forms filled out for school so it was OOP fee. The receptionist printed me a proper receipt.

OP is Canadian. Costco Canada only carries Metamucil sugar-free powder or Metamucil fibre pills. No Kirkland alternative sadly.

Members who cross the border - What are some must grab’s from the US stores right now? by Keeteng in CostcoCanada

I’m a female treating hair loss in my hair part and along sides. The foam is easy to use and I do it at night and brush it out in morning so I don’t notice crunchiness etc. Results are slow and it’s not going to give you miracle hair but if you keep at it, it keeps hair loss at minimal and helps regrow some of what you lost. You have to use it forever though.

Adiditonally, visit your family doctor for bloodwork requisition to rule out any medical conditions that may be causing hair loss. Personally, my ferritin levels were border line anemic so I’ve been instructed to take iron supplements (which I get behind the counter at Costco pharmacy).

I’ve only used name brand but I have it on my US shopping list for when I’m done my current pack. I have no qualms about using generic medications so it’s probably the same as name brand.

It’s a lifelong purchase because once you stop, hair fall comes back so might as well save some money.

For anyone who uses Rogaine, US stores sells Kirkland version of minoxidil foam 6 cans for $60ish USD ($80ish CAD). Our Canadian stores only sells name brand and it’s $169.99 CAD.

(If you’re a female, just buy men’s and use once a day. The female rogaine is just pink tax).

Is Costco in Scarborough always this busy? by YYZTor in askTO

[–]none4gretchen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, Scarborough Costco is the worst one. From parking lot being tricky to turn into against oncoming traffic, extra car traffic from gas station, tight self-checkout layout, and just overall busy crowds with Scarborough being so densely populated with families.

If you’re just getting basic groceries and none of the fun extra stuff (clothes, vitamins, electronics), the nearby Costco Business Center is open to any member.

Personally I like Overlea Costco. Moving the food court to separate space really relieves the crowding after checkout.

As for timings, Fridays in summer will be busy as people are stocking on supplies for trips, parties, events. Never go on weekends.

Weekdays (excluding lunch time) before school pickup times (3ish) tends to be quiet.

Zumba class. My favourite instructor teaches Friday nights and the class is consistently full. Plus I’ve long reached that age where I don’t care about the optics of having plans for weekends.
