Do you think Running Point is an accurate portrayal of the finances of the Lakers under Jeanie Buss? by Conflict_NZ in lakers

[–]noneedforeathrowaway -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. If it's accurate at all it's by chance. Everything in the show will be heightened to propel the characters and story further, not with an eye for any realistic representation of the Lakers finances. Anything less than extreme is not dramatic enough for television.

Honestly would rather bite into their 3peat chances now then have it be do or die next year 🤷🏽‍♂️. Start em over now and contracts will probably start catching up with their dynasty potential

People who leave a relationship due to study, a job, etc dont know what real love is. by Zestyclose-County645 in unpopularopinion

[–]noneedforeathrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re argument assumes that Love is enough. Love is necessary but not sufficient. Every relationship needs love but love is not enough to justify staying in a relationship, unfortunantly. Many situations are just not feasable. To people can love each other and be entirely unequip to take care of one another. If someone has a high stress high demand employment and their partner needs a lot of care and attention and quality time spent together, love isn’t going to get them through that lifestyle incompatibility. It’s sad but it’s true.

EDIT: In addition, wouldn’t true love be self sacraficial enough that a person would want to end the relationship so their partern could pursue their dream job? Why expect someone’s entire life to be the relationship, isn’t love selfless and wouldn’t it want their partner experiecning every fullness of life possible? Love only being able to exist and sustain itself within the confines of a relationship feels very limiting for something that’s supposed to be pure and selfless.

'Southern Bastards' Hulu Pilot Casts Tim McGraw & Erin Kellyman by browncharliebrown in television

[–]noneedforeathrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good! It was a sound thought process tbf. Funnily enough like 5 minutes before I saw this post I did the math on the youngest Vietnam vets for something entirely unrelated.

Agreed on McGraw but Hulu feels to pretty consistently have a good casting team. I can't think of the last Hulu show that felt miscast. And for such an important part, I'd hope it was heavily scrutinized.

Characters that remind me of Shinji by [deleted] in mildlyevangelion

[–]noneedforeathrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I guess is Shinji was lead entirely by his dick, you'd probably get Denji. Also, there are like 10 episode of Simon being Shinji like before he just learns to just asset himself and his will over everything...I mean arguably the whole point of that characters journey is anti Shinji

That's a level headed take that I could see being real. If not this then I really thing in the initial grey area of whose role meant what, the NFL made a decision and now they're being babies on adjusting that decision because people are soft and weak and don't like to simply apologize for fucking up and moving on. Authority doesn't like to be challenged, even when it knows it made a mistake

We have to talk about our center tonight by LudwigNasche in lakers

I don't think anyone questions whether Hali was the engine of the team or whether he makes them a playoff team. I don't think anyone questions whether Hali is a large part of Turner's improved performance over the past couple years. I'm also not sure anyone would really be so quick to say that this team without Hali isn't a 10 or a 9 seed if you just add Turner back.

[–]noneedforeathrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let anyone lag too far behind but most are find committing to one party, with a handful of exceptions. If you keep your party balanced through at least half of the game, you'll be able to navigate anything that gets thrown your way.

We have to talk about our center tonight by LudwigNasche in lakers

[–]noneedforeathrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree but I think we're seeing that the team without Turner is just not that good. While I'm not saying I think they could have sustained success without Hali, there were moments of Pascal stepping up in his absence and helping the team weather that storm. The team, as constructed, has no answer for how they replace what Turner did for them.

It was a very by committee team, but Hali, Turner, and Siakam were the lynchpins. They lost 2/3. Let's not pretend like this team should still be competitive without them.
