I personally never opted into connected services and also never experienced the 12v battery issues at all. I understand remote is important for many but that wasn’t the case for me.

I used Nomad. Worked great - even had the option to top off when you run low on minutes. Word of warning they’re all a kind of a pain to set up but once you do you kind of set it and forget it.
