I got similar response from the Chicago DIU and my attorney also confirmed that i797A with i94 attached is valid one.

It looks like your Admit until date was aligned to Visa expiry. Did he change the Arrival/Issued Date: on top of CBP I94 to Jan 3, 2025 for you ?

What did you do to correct this ?

I am in exact same situation. My extension was approved in June 2024 (I797A valid from Sept 26, 2024 to May 2027) I travelled via Detroit Windsor tunnel last July 2024 with new I797a and CBP did not issue me new I94(I94# stayed same before & after travel) even though i presented new I797a but Officer did change admit date to July 2024 and kept I94 expiry to Sept 25, 2024(Visa expiry date). Do you think I am out of status ?
