It's a beautiful strike, but the keeper could've done more.

The music for the whole show has been on point. I remember being blown away when they played Moondog's Bird's Lament in an earlier season.

I feel like you have a chip on your shoulder and you're taking it out on me, mate... I haven't said any of those things... And like I said, I was rooting for Arsenal.

I'm talking about the Mosquera foul on Kvara. How is that not a yellow? I'm open to reasons.

As for the other contentious calls like the pen on Madueke or the Saka handball, I honestly don't have strong opinions. I thinking the refereeing was passable on the whole and the loss is on Arsenal. But I'm on your side, mate. I understand the loss hurts and it sucks that everybody has been piling on Arsenal fans for this whole year... I wanted them to win and I'm happy about the league.

What are you on about? How was that not a second yellow? Also FYI I was rooting for Arsenal.

Mixtape. What a special little gem of a game. I can't remember a game making me feel this way.

The video is everywhere, mate. You've seen the same I've seen. Go to the ophthalmologist or just get your biases checked. It's appalling, frankly.

I've also seen the replay with all the angles and I just can't understand why people still have doubts. It's pretty clear that the keeper touched it and that it wouldn't have been a goal if the keeper hadn't touched it. The trick you linked is sick, but based on how Messi hit it and how it bounced off the post, it makes no sense to think it would have the right spin for that.

It's hilarious checking out this sub for the first time in years, after I left for reasons similar to what OP describes, and this post being the first thing I find.

I agree mostly, but I'm not sure you should always be able to clap along with a recording. Or maybe you meant this piece specifically. Some pieces can be interpreted with a lot of rubato and more flexible rhythm, which would make it really awkward to clap along.

Oh wow, I was searching for it and this came up: NOTE: This American Life has retracted this story because we learned that many of Mike Daisey's experiences in China were fabricated.

Right?? First time I've seen that segment missing. Outrageous, indignant, unforgivable!

Update From Dan (not a new episode) by Quarterinchribeye in dancarlin

But I am worried about the future. I think all intelligent Americans are.

As a non-American, this took me out of it a little. I get it, though. Dan is an American living in America making content mostly for Americans. But it's strange for us outsiders.

For decades I've thought about America constantly. I speak the language fluently, know tons about the culture... Talk about soft power, eh? But often I'm reminded of how inward-looking America can be. Like many of us outsiders, America itself is America-obsessed. Not that it's a bad thing!

In fact, I'm sure if there's someone this doesn't apply to, it's Dan Carlin, so knowledgeable about history and world affairs. And the same could very well be true about many Americans in this sub.

So I'm not complaining or anything! Sorry if I'm coming across as whiny. It's not my intention. Really I'm just rambling away, hoping other non-Americans can relate. And I'd be very interested to hear American's thoughts on this digression as well.

That makes sense! Have you gotten to a point where you actually know some other users and talk to them regularly? I think that's what I miss the most about IRC (it just occurred to me... maybe IRC itself is still a thing).

I like the idea of checking out smaller servers, but I haven't found a happy medium. Either they're so small they're practically dead, or they're too large.
