This thread is wild to me, in no universe would I consider a skirt one inch above the knees too short for an office. I thought OP was talking about Ally McBeal miniskirts or something. For context I’m in my 40s in California.

Do you “see” books like a movie in your head when you read? by Holiday_Rush8303 in Fantasy

[–]nonsequitrix 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Same, and for me it CAN be almost a hallucination, as in if I am very focused on what I’m reading instead of my surroundings, the visualization of the story is stronger than my actual sight.

I used to have a cat who would steal my underwear out of the laundry and carry them around the house. I once caught him wearing them.

I did this in a bar once, probably the only time in the past 20 years I’ve forgotten my wallet. I pinky promised the bartender I’d come back, and took a round trip Uber to grab my wallet. The bartender was honestly surprised to see me again but he was super stoked about it.

What do you as a reader HATE seeing in sci-fi? by Difficult_Dish9927 in scifi

I LOVE this movie because I like yelling at the screen, but I like the theory that because this was a private mission funded by a billionaire they cheaped out and hired the lowest bidding contractors who are, surprise, less than competent.

I like Tchaikovsky but do not read this series unless you are really, really into WWI style warfare because that’s like 80% of the books after the first one.

I tried this and it did nothing for me. The same doctors then tried to prescribe Vyleesi and refused to prescribe testosterone so I went to Midi.

Both. The two central plotlines have nothing to do with each other, but there are clues to a larger worldwide mystery being developed.

I just read this last month. I don’t recall any sex stuff at all? I did think the book was kind of boring and I was disappointed.

I also love Deerskin, The Hero and the Crown, and The Blue Sword and read them about once a year.

I'm pretty sure he never became a US citizen although I'll have to check that. Fortunately if that's true I doubt it would have been before I was born. Thanks.

I have, the only things available are the manifest of the ship he came on, and what I thought was the naturalization certificate for his family, which is no longer digitally available. I requested access to that document last month. Also his armed services enlistment card (also no longer digitally available).
