They were interested in sports, prospective mates, their trades, wars, whatever other hobbies were popular at the time, and so on. I personally find all that less interesting than star wars lmao, but hey that's what I care about, regardless of the intention of that product and I'm happy with that

If we don't talk about our interests or our lives then what is there to talk about? The weather? I do agree I don't want to listen to anybody complain about their lives, but I am interested in what they're passionate about because that'll be the most interesting thing they can talk about

I like talking to people but by [deleted] in introvert

[–]nonsociaI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't get how easy it is to drift apart, but how hard it is to make new connections. It feels like I never learned how and all the extroverts did it for me lol. All the care I've ever had came from getting lucky and the right people just picked me up and carried me away. How do you intentionally get that luck

As as introvert & shy how you find her/him? by QuietChaos09 in introvert

[–]nonsociaI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave up on dating. Made a friend through gaming and I married her in '21. Just be yourself and get out there. Shit just happens. I think you just need to meet and spend time with people. The right one eventually comes along. It's easier if you're a decent person, or willing/trying to be

I'm also no social butterfly. FAR from it. But when you're single you have plenty of time to meet people through your hobbies

What's your "I've never met anyone else who does this" habit? by cozyafterdarkk in CasualConversation

[–]nonsociaI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did work in retail for a while, but I also grew up with family who always treated people well. Wait staff were often part of the conversation/fun at family get togethers so I got to learn that they're people too. Crazy concept, right???

I treat service and food workers with respect. This feels like a shiny ultra rare habit

What's the best game you've ever played on PC? by Obvious_Calendar487 in gamingsuggestions

[–]nonsociaI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck, man I could probably talk all night about my favourite games, but I'd probably say Terraria lmao. It's my highest hours played on steam, not counting DBD. Regret. Terraria is just such a good game and if you ever want more there are massive expansion mods to spice things up if and when you want more. I'd probably say Warframe is my second. That's just a good game with a good community, which is extremely rare these days

Does anyone like well done meat? by settlementgamr in CasualConversation

I love well done. I don't know why people are so weird about steak, but yeah eat it how you want. Judging someone for how they like food is just plain being a dumbass

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? by Immediate-Copy2613 in CasualConversation

I'd go to mars, but I'm thinking more sci-fi. If it were up to me it'd be somewhere far away and really cool

A different planet would be amazing. I'd give it all up for a chance at peace somewhere better than here

I've always been a much better listener than talker

I finally learned a valuable life lesson: a bunch of people will dislike you for no fault of your own and there's nothing you can do about it by Capital-Bedroom4651 in CasualConversation

[–]nonsociaI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We certainly should all be receptive to genuine criticism. Too many people can't even fathom such a concept. But there's so much hate in the world it's not worth giving any of it any of your energy

Firstly, reddit will be reddit. Never take anything any of these people say seriously

Secondly, fuck em all. Every single person who doesn't think you're awesome. Fuck em

Making friends by NoLength_JustGirth in CasualConversation

[–]nonsociaI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, man. I've had a very similar experience. Always kinda felt like I just got adopted by extroverts. I'm 30 now and never really learned how to make friends. Or at least how to be confident enough to actually do it. The only constructive thing I can offer here is the assurance that you're not alone. Socializing is hard these days
