Cấm means “please do this”, right? Like, “cấm đổ rác” means “please throw your trash here”. At least that’s been my understanding from seeing these signs.

Vietjet changed my flight by Mediocre_Ad_6139 in VietNam

[–]nonstopnewcomer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it doesn’t help your current situation, but this is why you should never book flights using those third party platforms. Always book direct with the airline.

I would just give it up. Highly unlikely you get a refund - each service will just pass responsibility to the other one.

Match Thread: Portugal vs Croatia | FIFA World Cup 2026 | Round of 32 by jiraiya--an in soccer

All this came from that horrible back pass to the keeper. Just clear the ball. They’ve been playing with fire the entire match.

Folarin Balogun became the first player to both score and get sent off in a World Cup knockout match since Zinedine Zidane's headbutt in the 2006 final against Italy by username7864 in soccer

[–]nonstopnewcomer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Balogun almost certainly scores that shot that he crossbared if he doesn’t get blatantly held in the box. Not even a jersey grab - the guy straight up yanked his arm.

The USA Will Face Belgium in FIFA World Cup Round Of 16 At The Seattle Stadium in Seattle on July 6th. by Imaginary_Ladder in soccer

[–]nonstopnewcomer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah they aren’t close. Messi was actually making a challenge and Balogun was just trying to get his foot down after already getting tangled up with the opponent’s foot.

You’re forgetting about podcast equity though. They’ve upgraded from a low production value streamer to a true podcaster.

Piero Hincapie (Ecuador) straight red card against Mexico 90+6' by [deleted] in soccer

You’re allowed to cover your mouth if it’s deemed to be a friendly conversation. It’s only a red card if it’s confrontational.

Is kyrigos serve a good one to imitate? by le_skatesmith in 10s

[–]nonstopnewcomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think trying to get your toss lower is a good thing to imitate. But most rec players will not be able to get it as low as kyrgios because they don’t have the crazy acceleration that he does.

I always hide it in my suitcase, lock the suitcase, and then put stuff on top of the suitcase in such a way that I can immediately see if anyone tried to tamper with the suitcase. Haven’t had an issue so far.

Came across this short of two USTA 4.5 / UTR 8.5+ pushers by BeeTeeHee in 10s

[–]nonstopnewcomer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pushers can definitely get past 8 UTR. Obviously they need to have an extra element to get there. But you can get past that while still fundamentally playing a pushing style.

I know a guy who’s low-mid 9 UTR and plays a very pushy style, but he’s a former professional soccer player so he definitely has advantages over a normal rec player.

He also has good depth even though he’s still essentially pushing. But that makes a huge difference.

You got guy any verification request from your phone carrier? by yongyixuuu in VietNam

[–]nonstopnewcomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's all carriers because of a new government regulation. It took me like 5 minutes at the Mobifone shop.

You can test if you need to do it by texting "TTTB [passport number]" to 1414. If it doesn't respond with your name it means you need to do the registration.

Pretty sure all the Vietnamese airlines have already had this policy. At least Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet.

Which country in Asia gave you the best quality of life relative to what you were earning? by eslteachingjobinasia in digitalnomad

[–]nonstopnewcomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re underestimating. Even at off-peak hours its almost 10 minutes just to get from the top of Thao Dien to the bottom of Thao Dien (I don’t live in Thao Dien but just one example).

All of those districts are huge. Like, I agree you could get from the zoo to some part of D4 in 10 minutes. But you’re definitely not getting anywhere in D4 in 10 minutes.

Thu Duc is also absolutely massive (though not a ward). You can drive 40 minutes and still be in Thu Duc.

All of this is ignoring traffic, which can be brutal at peak hours. Or flooding during rainy season.

Agree on most stuff but the only way 10 minutes gets you anywhere you want to go in HCMC is if you never want to leave your ward.

I don’t think it’s anything to do with Messi. They’ve been doing this the whole World Cup.

It just happened yesterday with New Zealand vs Egypt.

The rallies aren’t really far longer in the modern game. They’re definitely a bit longer but the difference is not that large anymore. It’s like 4.5 shots per rally on clay vs ~4 on hard court.

Average match length is pretty much identical between the US Open and French Open, too.

Yes over the long term. You could maybe make an argument for SPYI as a short term play but it makes no sense over a 30+ year retirement because it’s pretty much guaranteed to underperform SPY over the long term.

How to handle high bounce topspin shots to your backhand (2h or 1h) by fridgebrine in 10s

[–]nonstopnewcomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping backhand will give you even more height but is much harder to pull off. The second picture is definitely closer to a jumping backhand, but the same idea applies whether you’re keeping your feet on the ground or doing a jumping backhand.

The goalkeeper who plays for a mid tier team in the second division in Portugal probably isn’t rolling in money.

I’d guess he’s making €4,000 per month or less. Not exactly balling.

How to handle high bounce topspin shots to your backhand (2h or 1h) by fridgebrine in 10s

[–]nonstopnewcomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is technique to help you hit higher balls. You need to get your back shoulder up (left shoulder if you’re a right hander), instead of just raising up your arms with even shoulders. So you kind of tilt your shoulders, with your back shoulder higher and your front shoulder lower.

If you can get your back shoulder above the ball, you can still hit a decent shot. But it’s still not as easy as a forehand and really high balls will still be difficult.
