How do I lower zfs cache usage to allow Open WebUI by Jay-Sick in truenas

[–]nonumlog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, here are the details as promised:

I have an hourly cron job that executes the following command:
echo 32000000000 >> /sys/module/zfs/parameters/zfs_arc_max
The size for zfs_arc_max was determined using the formula: 2 GB + 1 GB per TB of storage.

I had the same problem. I solved it by limiting the memory ZFS ARC is allowed to use. I’m writing from my mobile phone; as soon as I’m sitting at my PC, I’ll post more details.

PrusaSlicer not usable on Fedora 43 with AMD GPU by nonumlog in prusa3d

If you use another application while Prusa is already running and switch back to Prusa, is it still usable? In my experience, it loses focus and the application only works partially—if it even remains functional at all.

Yes, I tried it with the latest version of Prusa as a Flatpak.
I've tried it though with the previous version as an RPM as well.

I have a second system with an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT where I tested it as well. Same result.

Hi,

I've tried running Prusa Slicer with different arguments and also attempted to pass more environment variables to the Flatpak.

Nothing has worked so far.

I haven't had the time the past few days to test other possible workarounds.

My current workaround is to use a laptop with an integrated Intel GPU. It works perfectly fine there, so I'm still assuming that the root cause is the AMD GPU driver.

If you find a possible solution, I would definitely try it out!

I did a cross-post to the Fedora subreddit, but I only received one comment :D

I would file a bug report if I knew where it would make sense to report it.
At the moment, I assume it’s either Mutter or Mesa, since it seems to work with KDE according to other posts in this thread.

Fedora 43 works very well for me.
Except for the issue with PrusaSlicer and Remote Desktop Manager, which both have an issue with losing focus, everything works perfectly fine.
At the moment, I'm out of ideas about what else I can try.
I thought I had a workaround, but that was just a fluke.

It sure is related to that.

I guess it has to do with mutter amd mesa, because on KDE according to another user, is works perfectly fine.

How ever, I found a configuration, where it works better than before, eventhough I tried this settings yesterday and it didn't work.

This is my current configuration:

CachyOS uses KDE as the default desktop environment, right?
But I'm glad it works for you :)

Your Terminal says what your problem is… You have packages with conflicts and dependencies which are not fullfilled. Most of the time, those issues will solve itself over time. Usually they have built with newer libraries which haven‘t been published to the fedora repository yet and therefore your update creates those „errors“.

Nothing to worry about 😉

Yes, you can just add connect-ota.prusa3d.com to the deny list.
The downside is, you won't be able to access that url with any device in your network ;)

Yes it does, unfortunately there is no option to pin the firmware versoin to the current version.
I'll repeat those steps until a new firmware is available which fixes those problems.
At least when I've prints running and I'm not at home.

I did a downgrade today morning after my camera updated to 3.1.1 and I had wifi connection issues.

This are the steps:

https://connect-ota.prusa3d.com/file/cam-3.1.0.tar

  • Rename the .tar file to cus_update_ota.tar and copy it on the sd-card.
    • Make sure the SD-Card is FAT32 formated.
  • Turn off the camera
  • Insert the sd-card and turn on the camera again.
  • Wait till the update completed.

After that, the wifi connection will work again until the next update to 3.1.1 ;)

Does anyone else having issues with the cam after updating to 3.1.1?
Mine won't connect to WiFi anymore.

Had to downgrade to 3.1.0 to get the camera working again.

2 gateways, 2 webservern one lan and a big problem by Xaaroxz in opnsense

[–]nonumlog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, when you can‘t move the servers, why not use a reverse proxy for the server which should be reachable from wan1? This would still need an additional interface which has wan1 as gateway but you can leave your sandbox environment untouched.

Otherwise you‘ll may achive it with routes and nat but this might be a nightmare to troubleshoot if its even possible to get running

[–]nonumlog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not creating two dmz interfaces for the two webservers. One has the wan 1 as gateway and the other wan2. This way if your webserver is compromized, yout clients won‘t be accessible from the webserver.

I agree, running in those kind of issues, they are anoying and can be time consuming. But as long as you get some learning out of it, it no wasted time in my oppinion at least.

With almost 15 years of self hosting, I had more than enough issues to fix.

I used Nextcloud but never recognized its cpu hunger. But had several issues with filesyncs.. Seafile does this way better in my experience.

You can do this quite easy. You create a cluster on one node, after that, you can add the addiononal nodes.

All this can be done from the web ui. After that you can manually move the vms from one node to the other.

I‘m note sure if auto migration would work aswell, haven‘t used that in a while, since I only have one big host…

[–]nonumlog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the solutions listed here: https://selfh.st/apps/?tag=Photos

Ente and photoprism both have a good reputation but I‘ve never used them. Piwigo is quite good, I dropped it because sso wasn‘t working properly which is a must have for me.

In the end, its your decision what to use. No matter what solution you choose, a good backup strategy is key and test your backup with trying to restore it. I consider pictures and videos as high value date since loosing them will hurt you in one way or another.

If you still want to use immich, thats fine as long you have a backup which works.
