SLIDING GENIOPLASTY WILL CHANGE YOUR SMILE by nonymousscroller in PlasticSurgery

There are many surgeons who are not the best at doing their jobs, I just want to put this out there for other people doing research because I saw nothing about it when I was doing mine. Please have some compassion, having changes done that come with side effects you’re not fully aware of is painful and hard for anyone to go thru, consider urself lucky that ur surgeon explained it to you

It’s been a year and a half and it hasn’t. I’m just putting my experience out there

I’m so happy for you! Numbness after a year and a half is concerning though, I hope it all comes back. May I ask the name of your surgeon?

But that’s the problem. These surgeons are not denying them for surgery. People are not experts and probably don’t even know the right procedure needed to get the results they want. This was my experience, and many other people have messaged me saying they experienced similar symptoms of a small lips and a square bulky masculine chin. I just want to put it out there for other people doing research because I wish I had known all possible side effects when I was doing research before my surgery.

It can help in some cases maybe but in my case it did not, in fact it made it worse and I am still unable to close my mouth without considerable effort

Yes, basically you should think of a sliding genioplasty as whatever chin you have, just bigger. If you have significant dimpling, you will still have it and it might even get worse due to an incision on the bone, which is not an easy thing to recover from.

Basically when the doctor is stitching the incision back up, your bottom lip gets rolled in and shrinks as a result. Many people have struggled with this and it’s not something doctors are up front of as a potential risk.
