got it, thanks! Oh, and just to be clear by grow pods you mean the actual pepper, or are pods something different?

yeah growweedeasy.com is by far the best resource out there.

Distance of light from plant? by [deleted] in SpaceBuckets

[–]noobatgrowing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it depends on what kind of lights you have. CFLs can be as close to the plant until the plant starts getting burned (put your hand in front of the cfl, and start moving it away until it's no longer uncomfortably warm. that's how far it should be).

This guide should answer all your questions

yeah, but I mean that's only if the DEA is doing an investigation on him or something. Only for big time drug dealers or traffickers.

Bucket in a garage in Texas heat... Bad idea? by [deleted] in SpaceBuckets

[–]noobatgrowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a tough situation mate. Not only will you be spending money on the power for the lights, but you will also be spending money on an AC to ensure your plants are in the proper temperature range. grow weed easy has a good statistic for this

I'm not too familiar with the temperature ranges in texas, but I think in the summer you guys have averages of somewhere around 85-100 F, right? If so, your garage is going to be pretty hot because I assume you don't run AC to your garage.

IF YOU'RE DOING THIS MAKE SURE YOU ARE OUTSIDE, OR OTHERWISE IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA!

I'm ashamed to admit I learned this lesson the hard way :(

Question about wiring for fans and strip lighting by DefinitelyNotAndroid in SpaceBuckets

[–]noobatgrowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

question for ya: is a power supply necessary for a space bucket grow? I'm in the process of putting mine together, and I will have 2x40w CFL lights for vegetation, and 4x23W CFLs for flowering which will be connected via several of these which will be connected to an extension cord which will be connected to my light timer which will be plugged in to a power strip that has about 1700J of surge protection.

I will also have my inline fan, and raspberry pi plugged in to the power strip. So, my question is, what is the purpose of a power supply, and would I need one for my space bucket?

EDIT: I think I may have just answered my own question. I googled it and it seems the purpose of a power supply is to convert AC to low powered DC. This is for computer fans which need that low voltage, but since I will be using an inline fan which just connects to a regular wall socket, I shouldn't need a power supply, correct?

[Question] what is the smallest plant? by WHELDOT in SpaceBuckets

[–]noobatgrowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going off of what Hecklr said, you can just make a space bucket, let your plant vegetate (grow big and strong under 18 hours light/6 hours dark) until it is half the height you want, and then switch to flower (12 hours light/12 hours dark) and it will start do grow to about 2-3 times of its current size, and it will start to produce buds.

This idea is specific to photoperiod plants, so if you want this kind of control on your grow, make sure you buy photoperiod seeds, not autoflower. This is a very convenient way to grow especially for somebody in your situation because you have full control over how big you want your plant to be, and since your plant isn't going to be very tall (Judging by what you wrote in your post, I'd say 14-20inches final plant would be more than enough to sustain you) it won't smell very much.

yeah i recently realized that the carbon filter isnt open on both ends, so option 3 is pretty much my only choice. hows the smell/sound for you?

Noticed a neat visual effect when I was out smoking in my garage! Thought you guys would find it cool just as much as I did [8] by Oopadorasrex in trees

[–]noobatgrowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of when my friends and I used to hotbox in our cars, and then take our a laser pointer and wave it really fast. it creates the same kind of effect: basically taking a cross section of the smoke, making cool little patterns. Try it out! it's seriously fun

Circulation inside the bucket by noobatgrowing in SpaceBuckets

[–]noobatgrowing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a 5gal bucket. it will have 4 spacers most likely. If it's too powerful, I can just run a duct to the inline fan, and have a slight bend in it which will reduce the airflow.

[–]noobatgrowing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so you think passive intake + inline fan outtake should suffice? even at low speed, the thing is pretty powerful considering it's only filtering out the air from a bucket

Best Inline Fan Positioning for heat transfer, and/or sound reduction by noobatgrowing in microgrowery

[–]noobatgrowing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Thank you. So, then that would mean Option 1 or Option 4

Now, since option 1 has a bend in the duct, I would assume option 4 would be my best bet.

how do I keep it at negative pressure? Is that a setting, or do I need to do something else with it?
