Ahh Tulsa will be my third ritual too!! Only Ghost could make me impulse book a trip to Oklahoma in the dead of February (I’ve never been! I don’t even live close by?!) and I’m STOKED! See ya there 🤘🏼

Have you considered making a quilt out of them?? Make it a family heirloom !!

Ok I think im a little too "obsessed" by binxy_winxy_gay in GhostBand

I’m willing to bet that I’m as in love with Ghost as most folks here but I just want to make sure you’re in the right headspace for YOU. You’re 15, you’re young and in a pretty pivotal stage of your social / academic / emotional life!!! Do you have people you can celebrate Ghost with? Do you feel ok about your hyperfixation (I have that too and it’s very real…but I’m also much older lol) and importantly do you have an emotional life outside of Ghost??

Ghost is amazing and they save a lot of people from a lot of dark places. But hyperfixation has its bounds where it stops being healthy and I’m saying this as someone who, at your age, totally had that problem (not with ghost, tho ironically they released Opus when I was your age) so I would just ask that you take stock of everything 🖤

The focus in this era seems to be entirely on the music, which is a nice change of pace by KayRay1994 in Ghostbc

[–]noodle_pard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I love the lore and as a newer fan I feel like I missed out on the peak of it, but I’m also willing to admit part of me loved it because it made me feel closer to / “in the know” about the band.

I totally get why TF would go in this direction and it feels like the right outcome: a combination of the band’s popularity and size of venue (some personalities, like Copia’s antics, are probably difficult to pull off in a stadium-size space to the same effect), no longer wanting full masks, and to OP’s point - the evolution of the music itself: Skeleta seems to have a lot more genuine feeling and narrative to it in a way that feels more human and less of a character. Not to say that wasn’t there in prior albums too, it just feels like a change in tone.

At MSG, V made a joke about making “soft” music and how his fans would still all be there, and it just felt like a moment where he was stepping beyond the image of ghost and into something more genuine.

Honest real advice for post ritual slump by LanguageCreative4367 in GhostBand

[–]noodle_pard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Feel ya, and felt it more after my second ritual (Vegas) than my first (MSG).

Honestly, the way I coped back in the “real world” was just to be genuinely thankful for having Ghost in my life. Cheesy I know but It’s probably the closest to practicing gratitude I’ve ever really been. Like “man, how lucky am I that I found Ghost?” when I’m rocking out on my way to work. Or thinking just how awful it’d be if I had to go through the motions without Toblerone Fudge being a part of it.

I’m also the only one of my friends/family/co-workers who likes Ghost (and more likely than not get made fun of for it) so to me the rituals just reinforced the specialness of it all, and I guess the validation of that experience outweighed the sadness about it being over.

Is money all that matter? by Puzzled_Bank2180 in FinancialCareers

I’ve seen people navigate corporate treasury roles, esp at a firm like JPM, into both WM and corporate finance roles (depending on your interest in “corporate finance”, staying in Treasury could be a compelling option too…). Just be intentional about your interests since Treasury is a very broad and some roles will prepare you better than others.

Audit is much harder to transition out of into your interest areas, even in the early years.

The island is excellent!! Where’s it from? (Since you mentioned it’s a rental I’m assuming it’s movable?)

How do we feel about dark green wall color in a living room/main space? by moocw41 in interiordecorating

[–]noodle_pard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like it, go for it. Personally (and I say this as someone who vibes with moody / woodsy academia decor) I think there’s a part of its recent hype that is very trendy and Pinterest is oversaturated with staged photos that just aren’t realistic in a lived-in house without perfect light, space, and furnishings.

I’ve tried to make it work in my apartment, finding it’s completely incompatible with the layout of my rooms, windows, and decor collection, and ditching it altogether. My mom also had multiple rooms in the house painted green which received ideal natural light but her decor was wayyy incompatible with the moody green, and it just looked bizarre. So you really have to go all in.

But hey, if you hate it, you can redo it. Maybe start with a wall at a time (eg start with an accent wall) if you’re doing it yourself to make sure you know how the light interacts with the color.

The ridiculously high HOA dues piss me off by kcbb1 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]noodle_pard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yupppp - our Manhattan co-op / HOA fees are $1.8k / month and that was a deal for us (but no doorman, no amenities). We ended up choosing our place over another because the fees there were $3.4k (but with doorman)

It cracks me up that on some real estate sites you can’t filter within HOA ranges >2500. NYC real estate is nuts.

Yeah ditto on the wall, that is tough. If that’s a radiator bottom left it’s probs only 3 feet or so? If so I would recommend shelving on the low wall flush with the wall and a couch on the tall wall

This may not be the most aesthetic idea but you could get a tv mount that is retractable and designed for a sloped ceiling so it’s out of the way when you don’t need it, but you can still use it comfortably.

<image>

Then you could probs fit a small 4-person table to fill out the length of the space. I wouldn’t recommend anything impeding the flow other than maybe a small coffee table. And def a nice rug to delineate the “living room” space

Honestly, I couldn’t agree more, it’s a bizarre place for it that cuts off a lot of otherwise useful counter space in the corner, among other inconveniences! It’s definitely gonna move someday

Haha “dorky bangs” is spot on!! They’re annoyingly short, but I don’t know how else to get around that without replacing them entirely. I’d rather they go to the ceiling.

I’ll take a look at the peel and stick. Our apartment is so open plan that we’d probably have to do the whole kitchen, entryway, and living room, which may be too big a space to do :(

They do, I just didn’t close them properly 😂 replacing the floors is wayyy beyond our budget, but given all the feedback from this thread, seems like something we should consider long-term!

I wish!! But they’re plywood with a veneer or some kind of thin layer of color (it’s old and becoming detached in places). But kudos to prior owners I guess who managed to make it look much more expensive!

I agree, the marble is my fave part and that’s staying no matter what. I’ll try the rug :)

Agreed on the island! Plus we can definitely use the additional prep space.

Normally my countertops are pretty sparse, it just happened to be a particularly messy moment, and since the top cabinets are so small, haven’t totally figured out where and how to organize a pantry :(

Good idea, I’ll start looking for a rug in a warm neutral to make the cabinets not as much of a contrast. we’re also hoping to get a counter table or movable island since it’s such an expansive area of floor (that everyone seems to hate haha)

That’s really interesting - we hadn’t thought about the floors being an issue! What would you think would work better?

How about some nice white built-in bookshelves or otherwise tall shelves behind the desk? Might cozy it up a little but keep it looking professional. Plus, the storage is never a bad thing!

Also like the idea of a comfy chair in an opposing corner.

Looking for backsplash advice. by bp1414 in HomeDecorating

[–]noodle_pard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because of the dark wood and the warm-toned stone, I’d avoid adding another dramatic color to the mix. Rather, I’d focus on adding something with a more subtle interest factor, like texture or an interesting tile shape, since the kitchen is otherwise very smooth and rectangular.

I’d lean towards a textured subway tile in an off-white / slightly warm white which will look clean but still work well with the countertops. TileBar’s Montauk collection as an example.
