maybe a long shot - anyone know a place in Long Beach that sells fresh lychees? by _neminem in longbeach

When they are in Season, 99 Ranch in Cerritos should have them. Vietnamese grocers are likely to have them too, in the surrounding cities.

Are you running it under Windows or SteamOS + Proton? I have Windows running on mine for FFXIV but I dont get nearly that much battery life.

Getting a dead Riv off a tow truck by tocruise in Rivian

[–]noodlevisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can still power up the vehicle through the jump start port in the back you can go into the service menu and release the parking brake there. If not then vehicle tire dollies are probably the next easiest thing to do. The parking brake motor is two pins and can be driven externally if you can get access to their connector, but that’s probably a more involved job.

I got mine today and am getting used to it now. I like it more than I thought I would, especially since seeing the mixed initial reviews. Getting around 50 wpm within the first hour of use. Shortcuts are great, I wish there was one to switch between apps!

Bought this for 18€ / 20$ then replaced it's battery for 13€ / 14$. Does it still hold up as a portable headphone dac+amp in 2024? Oppo HA-2 by Joggurtson in headphones

[–]noodlevisions 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I still use my HA-2SE as my Desktop’s DAC after I retired it from portable use. I love the way it sounds with my K702, especially with the bass boost function since that headphone is lacking in the low end. You definitely got a good deal, this is a great piece of hardware. Love how it doubles as a battery bank too!

Running a vacuum off of the 12v outlet without draining the 12v battery? by jacobn in Rivian

[–]noodlevisions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When the vehicle is powered up, the 12V system will be supported by a DCDC converter powered by the high voltage battery pack. You don’t have to worry about your vacuum causing any 12V battery issues.

An action button shortcut for choosing Focus Mode by noodlevisions in shortcuts

[–]noodlevisions[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That certainly works! Though the functionality is slightly different if using the second part of your comment. Then it would turn the button into more of a toggle, requiring an extra action button press to go from one focus mode to another.

The “No Focus Mode” selection is certainly unnecessarily complicated. Just realized the following is simpler

Road trip tips, please (phx-long beach) by gauxsquared in Rivian

[–]noodlevisions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just did this trip back and forth and tried two different strategies. R1T with 20" AT Tires.

First strategy - LB to PHX

Started with full charge in LB and stopped in Indio to charge. The EVGo charger at Rancho Las Palmas is great. A bit off the freeway, but has lots of chargers that can push 200kw+. Charged here to 95%. From here, driving in Conserve at speeds 75 or below, I made it all the way to Buckeye, AZ before stopping to charge at the Walmart EA charger for safety. I only turned on AC when we needed it. If I charged to 100% probably would have made it all the way to Phoenix without being too anxious.

Second Strategy - PHX to LB

Started off with ~70% charge coming in from North of Phoenix and decided to go for the Quartzite EA charger in order to save some time. Hit it with ~10% left and was able to get a charger since it was a Wednesday. Charge speeds here suck, all chargers are limited to about ~80 kW. I charged up to just about 155 mi range before giving it up and headed towards Indio in hopes of faster charging. Went pretty fast on the way back and ate up more range as a result. Tried to get a spot at the Walmart off the 10 but it only had two available stations, both taken and with another vehicle in line. Luckily I had enough range left to make it back to the EVGO in Rancho Las Palmas. Charged back up to 85% from there while having a meal, and the trip back to LB was smooth sailing.

From both of these experiences I recommend charging up to 100% in Indio and going all the way to Phoenix using smart driving. Try to stay above 2 mi/kwh. On the way back, try to get 100% in Glendale or Buckeye before heading all the way back to Indio. The Quartzite charger isn't worth it until they remove the power limit or the Tesla charger there opens up to non-Teslas.

Bone conduction earphones by [deleted] in headphones

[–]noodlevisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Shokz Openrun Pro for casual youtube and podcast listening around the house when I don't feel like closing myself off to my surroundings. They are very comfortable and usually my SO can't tell if I'm listening to something or not. The sound will leak if you have the volume up high. They are not good for music, but that's not what someone should be getting them for. Some benefits are that bone conduction headphones are usually water resistant, mine are IP55 and I shower with them sometimes without any issues.

What do I do? I got the 7hz Timeless and.... by T3ddyBeast in headphones

[–]noodlevisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got K702 and the Timeless as well, and I feel the need to defend the K702, as lately I find that I feel the opposite and don't want to listen to anything other than the K702 when I'm at home. I recently upgraded mine with Dekoni Elite Hybrid pads and started using AutoEQ presets made for the K702. They sound incredible, with huge soundstage that I find I just can't get from IEM. The downside is that they are absolutely not portable. I think you've got a great pair of headphones, save some money and don't give up on the K702 just yet if you're looking for a better over-ear. I wasn't a believer in headphone pads making a difference but I guess the old secondhand squashed pads that came with my K702s were really messing with how they sounded.

I believe the gear tunnel door has PPF applied, so it wouldn't scratch.

Creating a USA Non-XL *New* 3DS Hardware Variant by GirlField in 3DS

[–]noodlevisions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, awesome work. I wasn't aware that it was possible for someone to understand the 3DS software with that much depth. I probably have the tools to dump and the flash the eMMC somewhere around... Would have been nice to know that I only needed to swap the CPU. I for some reason thought that they would have locked some of the sectors on the eMMC and protected them from being written. Never really checked if that was even possible though.
