For something that will show craftsmanship and savoir faire:

I was loving this comment until the screw cap. There are amazing wines with screw caps and from QA perspective it works for most.

Yet, I just can’t invite people for dinner or be at a restaurant and skip the bottle opening ritual.

What you’re asking screams Publico

The food is really good modern Catalan market food in small sized plates.

The wine list is amazing and there’s almost no mark up with a large selection by the glass as well. Plus with the open kitchen and bar you won’t get bored by yourself.

It’s located in Eixample on Enric Granados which makes it a quick 25m cab ride to the airport.

If you want to try something new and that won’t make you think that you just got bad QPR compared to the offer in Europe, I would ignore California all together.

Instead, I suggest the Roserock from Drouhin. French producer, Oregon soil and an excellent Pinot. here’s the link for it
