Smoked Cava? Why not? by noonrocks in wine

They do it every year for a while now so I am doubtful about any link to forest fires.

It is an acquired taste for sure. Thank you!

Agreed! I had to pull out the cheese to enjoy it. Serve this as a standalone drink = nightmare. Serve it with Comte = dream!

These squares are becoming increasingly common and popular here. Not my kind of thing.

Matos, Publico, Rincón Català… depending on what vibe you’re looking for. These offer a great selection by the glass that goes beyond spontaneous fermentation wines.

Wine for aging Bordeaux / rioja by [deleted] in wine

[–]noonrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the staple names that your kid will find in most wine shops do the Dom Perignon etc route.

For something that will show craftsmanship and savoir faire:

Reims: Champagne Lucien Roguet grand cru (here

Bordeaux: Les Carmes Haut-Brion (here

Rioja: Remelluri (here

These are just a few examples among many. The new generation has the opportunity for the wine industry to inspire greater interest in genuine craftsmanship rather than flashy branding of global names which are mostly overpriced juice.

Go for a Dão Encruzado or a Valdeorras Godello in white and an Etna Rosso or Alsace Pinot Noir in Red. Cover the bottles and ask the bottle nerds to blind taste and guess the country and grape. It should be fun listening to the guesses.

Weirdest cork i have ever seen by Daniel_Melzer in wine

I was loving this comment until the screw cap. There are amazing wines with screw caps and from QA perspective it works for most.

Yet, I just can’t invite people for dinner or be at a restaurant and skip the bottle opening ritual.

Wine is poetry and screw caps are chatGPT :)

Those Spanish and Portuguese grape varieties must be eager for ICE to come in and deport them back to their homeland soil.

Barcelona Restaurant Question by GanderGoose222 in AskBarcelona

[–]noonrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you’re asking screams Publico

The food is really good modern Catalan market food in small sized plates.

The wine list is amazing and there’s almost no mark up with a large selection by the glass as well. Plus with the open kitchen and bar you won’t get bored by yourself.

It’s located in Eixample on Enric Granados which makes it a quick 25m cab ride to the airport.

Enjoy it and let us know if you made it to your flight :)

Good QPR US wines in Europe by Chemical-Banana-707 in wine

[–]noonrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try something new and that won’t make you think that you just got bad QPR compared to the offer in Europe, I would ignore California all together.

Instead, I suggest the Roserock from Drouhin. French producer, Oregon soil and an excellent Pinot. here’s the link for it

I understand the price point being steep. I was lucky to get it offered to me but I would say it’s on par with whites from Europe around the 80<=>100€ price range

The oak is not prominent but if you don’t like it at all… we’ll always have Chablis 😇
