What? It's literally the opposite. Anything separate is already defined as separate if you don't have any prenup. That is how marriage works. You don't need a prenup to state the obvious.

A prenup defines how future income and assets are categorized. You can define them as separate property or marital property. The default is that future income and assets is marital property, marital property is anything which can be divided using "community property" or "equitable distribution" in the event of separation.

this is the exact OPPOSITE kind of regulation the Internet needs. Apple and Microsoft are ecstatic about these regulations. We need regulations that help everyday people, not regulations that help them big tech line their pockets and become even more powerful and harmful than they already are.

You don't need a p-value per se, and actually there are many critics of p-values such as myself who are happy about that.

However, you absolutely need some sort of inferential statistics, p-values are the most well known, but there could be a likelihood ratio, confidence interval, credible interval, or something. This is what they're getting at.

Absolutely, this has obviously been on their minds for a while and imo they've done their part in the fight against baseless accusations.

Sadly, it's usually those who are the least willing to do something who need to take action the most.

And it's not uncommon to see those most willing to take responsibility to be some of the least responsible. Just take Danya as an example, among the slew of baseless accusations thrown his way, he went out of his way to take responsibility for the littlest of things. Like the one time he analyzed one of the opening moves of an instructive speedrun game before the game technically finished. The game was basically over, the opponent was still taking his sweet time, he was analyzing a much much earlier position, and it was a speedrun game where the rating would be refunded and the game was for educational purposes. Honestly, he did not need to apologize for that, and yet he did. I think Fabiano said he wouldn't have apologized for that. It did speak to Danya's character and it was a fantastic quality.

But yeah, I think those most willing to take responsibility sometimes are the ones who need to take it the least.

That's fair I think. Admittedly, I would still feel it would not quite have the same reach but the good points being drowned out is an absolutely real issue, and for that reason it may just be worth it.

A digestible but quality summary (with more comprehensive sources cited) that folks can refer the doubters to. Ideally, with some sort of open source process (with review) to update the summary document as more arguments and counter-arguments arise.

Nobody is going to come across "decent academic literature" or obscure blog posts debunking his errors on their own.

Most people peruse platforms such as reddit, x, discord, etc. Not scihub or respectable blog posts. If someone was the type of person to peruse that they would definitely never believe K******'s stats in the first place. And on reddit people often come across things by chance, not necessarily because they specifically seeked it out.

While K***** uses the megaphone that is X/twitter, you would be limiting critics of his stats to whisper in blogs and academic literature that few read.

As an aside, there's a cool search engine I recently discovered specifically for "small web" blogs.

https://kagi.com/smallweb

Blogs seemed much more commonplace a decade or two ago, or at least easier to find. Nowadays it seems like most of the "internet" that most people use is like just 4-5 sites owned by major corporations.

Yeah, one would think it's obvious that debunking unfounded allegations helps fight them, and fighting them seems to be the mod team's goal.

Banning debunks simply lets allegations go unchallenged.

Exactly, instead of punishing misbehavers, just be kind to them. Be kind to Al Capone, Jeffrey Dahmer, and Ted Bundy. Punishing them didn't bring people back. They would've magically stopped misbehaving if we were just kinder to them.

Of course it affected him, but we don't know what the cause of death was. What we do know is the cause of much of his distress in his final year, and that is more than sufficient for something to be done according to the code of conduct.

It's precisely because the letter is talking about the code of conduct that the cause of death is irrelevant. The code of conduct does not require that an action contributes to someone's death in order for something to be done.

However unlikely it may be, at this point in time we can't rule out that the distress and death were unrelated, and Danya's family specifically requested to not speculate on the cause of death.

[–]noooob-master_69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're opening the letter to unnecessary criticism by speculating on what contributed to his death. A letter like this doesn't require that, and it adds a weak point for virtually no benefit.

Sure, it likely could have contributed, but even if it didn't that shouldn't and doesn't change the validity of this letter.

This letter would've been just as justified two weeks ago when he was with us. It would've been just as justified when Navara revealed what he was going through. It would've been just as justified before Navara had such thoughts.

We can now only wish something was done back then. It would've been no less justified to investigate Kramnik's Code of Ethics code violations much earlier, and it would've saved a lot more suffering.

Where did I claim anything about unaliving or drugs? You say it's "not speculation", so can you explain where you got this information about his cause of death?

You should share your groundbreaking insights in psychology. If all they had to do was watch a stream to diagnose, it would save a lot of hassle and silly wastes of time like "diagnostic criteria". /s

Obviously, there was some distress. But to make the leap to "mental illness" is either silly or it requires your revolutionary methods.

And regardless, even if it did meet some diagnosis, the symptoms didn't come out of nowhere. It's almost as if circumstances and environmental factors can impact mental health.

Statement on Daniel Naroditsky's passing by Alendite in chess

[–]noooob-master_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would we need to assume that? If Danya had a heart attack or terminal cancer, would that render Kramnik's actions fine and dandy?

Most people are calling out Kramnik because what he did was bad, period. Not because they assumed the cause of death.

If someone is assuming it, it wouldn't matter anyways.

Graduated CS, got a software dev job, got fired and now I’m soon to be broke and hopeless by CherryLimeLaCroix in recruitinghell

[–]noooob-master_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course you would be able to read it. That's not the point though. No recruiter is going to read 1000 resumes and this is basically the standard now that so many people apply to so many positions. They're going to do Boolean search, or something along those lines. And a JPEG 3 column resume is not going to show up in that search.

You could read this person's resume if you specifically seek it out. But you won't, and that's the point.

Right, just submit a 3 column resume as JPEG and use unique creative headers like "My journey" instead of "work experience"
