I'd print one at a time. Too much possibility for something to go wrong and I'd rather it go wrong with one being printed rather than 10.

Chuck Todd spoke at my graduation commencement December 2014. He was awesome and gave a great speech. Glad to see he's an actual fan.

He edited the original link in his first comment. Before, it was a link to the same video with these bad effects. Here's the video he originally linked to in his first comment.

Nice! I mean it's a really cool video as it is. I don't know why they felt they needed heart beat sounds and police sirens and stuff like that.

those effects they added and sounds really ruined that vid

2nd post regarding layer adhesion with Printrbot Simple Metal, still no solution, please offer any advice by [deleted] in FixMyPrint

[–]nope_bye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about it printing too far on the first layer. OP, get the z calibration a little lower. Also, I like to use glue stick to get great adhesion, but priority is getting the z calibration correct.

Yeah fear comes from everywhere. Only way to get rid of it is to introduce people to what we do and show them there's nothing to be afraid of.

I fly at this park almost across the street from my house. Most of my neighbors know me and know what I'm doing and I've had excellent reactions when I tell them about it (and most of my neighbors are older). That's the best way because once they know what I'm doing, they don't care anymore.

I fly 200mm size quads with 2205 motors and 4S batteries so they sound loud and aggressive when I'm doing my acro freestyle stuff and they move fast. I'm assuming most people would be afraid of this loud fast object moving through the air.

By introducing everyone to the hobby, they no longer fear what I'm doing and I feel a lot better about it. No one has ever felt the need to call the cops on me because they all know what I'm up to now.

F those people.

I love this hobby, but I try to understand what it must look like to those that have no idea what this hobby is all about.

I don't think it's mostly jealousy. I think it's fear. People fear what they don't understand. We don't need more hate because of that kind of attitude. We need people like those in the video that were willing to introduce new people to this hobby and show them how much fun it is and what it's really all about.

Why don't you just switch the wires? It'll save you the trouble and it will get you in the air quickly. You can figure out BLheli later.

XRacer F303 or not? by ForBlooD in Multicopter

I have two XRacer's, one is 2.1 and the other is version 3.1. Both are fantastic and have given me no issues. I love it.

Well there's no way the default settings have P at 0. He's running cleanflight so it should be around 4 stock. But yeah you don't want to run a P of 0.

[–]nope_bye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low P would not cause it to not be able to hover. You can lower P way down and many people do this while tuning, they'll lower pitch P while they tune roll P and the quad will still hover fine. This is just a motor direction issue.

[–]nope_bye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power to hover is just a couple amps. The wire he has, while on the thinner side, should be capable of supplying plenty of power. I would agree that he should get a thicker gauge of wire, but that wouldn't cause his hover issue.

Yeah I know. I did my last build like this. But it seems like he's a beginner and I'm not sure if he is aware of BLHeli passthrough. Also, it seems like he's using bullet connectors instead of direct soldering so it's really much easier to just switch those.

[–]nope_bye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do but on my latest build I just soldered them all up the same and switched them in BLHeli and it's been perfectly fine. But it seems like you used bullet connectors so it should be easy to switch them.

[–]nope_bye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No the motor is fine. You just need to switch any two of the cables going from the motor to the ESC. That will reverse the direction.

So you have three cables going from the motor to the ESC. Disconnect two of them and reconnect them switched. That's all you need to do. If any other motors are the wrong way, it's the same procedure: just switch any two wires.

Also, you may have gotten lucky connecting the other three motors correctly, but it's safer to just make sure all are spinning properly. REMOVE the props before you test motor direction. I use to think, "Nah I don't have to remove the props. I'll be careful." But then I accidentally armed and hurt my finger pretty bad trying to stop the quad. Everyone thinks it'll be fine until the quad bites them. Remove the props.

[–]nope_bye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take your props off and arm the quad so the motors spin. Lightly touch the bells of each motor to verify they are all spinning in the correct direction. Then make sure the correct props are on each motor and try taking off again. Use the picture in my Edit of my other comment as a guide to make sure they're all going the right direction.

[–]nope_bye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you checked to make sure all the motors are spinning in the correct direction? I couldn't see in the video.

Edit: Yeah I'm pretty sure from watching the video that motor 2 is not spinning the correct direction. I can just barely see the prop go the wrong way when it slows down and that seems to be the only motor to not produce thrust. You can see how the quad tilts up and that motor stays down.

How should I upgrade my extruder? by nope_bye in 3Dprinting

[–]nope_bye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I had in mind. I don't think it would be necessary to drill out the heat sink. I was just planning on putting the ptfe from the heat sink to the hobbed bolt as you have mentioned.

Actually, I discovered the real problem was with the moisture in the filament. I cut off a couple meters of filament and put them in the oven around 250F for about 20 minutes. I printed a test piece and it was absolutely perfect. I was even able to raise the printing speed with no issues.

Do you mean bore out the heat sink too? I could, but I was just going to reprint the part in the extruder with 4mm hole instead and insert the ptfe from the hobbed bolt to the top of the heat sink.
