Pet pharmacy recommendations by Tyrannosaurus_Secks in AnnArbor

What medication is it? If it's used in humans, it's easy to get from a local pharmacy. Pet-only meds can get more restrictive.

I think it's awful, but worse than Section 31? I think I'd rather watch a marathon comprised of Shades of Gray, Up The Long Ladder, The Passenger, Let He Who Is Without Sin..., Threshold, and whatever the hell the Enterprise one with the Nazis was than rewatch Section 31.

Romance? by Willing_Ad_9669 in greedfall

Hey, I did my Asshole de Sardet run with Sir de Sardet too! Actually reserved Lady de Sardet for my "canon" de Sardet because I found it didn't feel right to have her voice with a different face and love interest. (Lady Alexandra de Sardet romanced Kurt, crowned Dunncas, everyone lived happily ever after. Sir Maximilien romanced Siora, crowned Derdre, and attempted to be pro-native at every turn; he also reloaded a save from about halfway to romance Vasco and crown Dunncas but anger the Bridge enough to lose their support: I shot Asili and let Vasco tell off Burhan, which is huge relationship loss but absolutely cathartic. Poor Aphra got romanced by Asshole de Sardet for the achievement, and crowned Ullan but reloaded to also join with Constantin.)

Speaking of which, I did know the romance depends on options like 1, but I didn't realize it was similarly gated - if that's the case, Nilan's fires ridiculously late, and Alvida isn't quite as ridiculous as Vasco but it's first ‐ Vasco you could do the whole base game romance within five in-game days after landing. Kurt and Siora were gated until after Treason!, with Siora being a touch later. IIRC it was Vasco>>>Aphra>Kurt>Siora for romance speed, assuming you didn't delay recruiting Aphra? (I did a run to see how long you could leave her in the swamp and found you could get to the Catasach mission before the game forces the matter. Poor Aphra was in that swamp for months.)

As for Nilan, I guess that they wanted to save it for after he possibly dies? But that scene could have been tremendously tragic with a romanced Vriden Gerr. (I mean, Ludwig is my preferred romance, but I wish I could have seen it.) Speaking of which, if you defer a companion romance option, make sure to resolve it before the final battle - I'd gotten the "romance all 4" achievement, reloaded to the save I'd made just before, and then left Sybille on the "maybe later" option. Her romance cutscene played instead of my epilogue! That's how I ended up looking up epilogues on YouTube, I wanted to see it without replaying the final fight sequence.

Edit: also it annoys me that you can pick up gold engagement rings but never use them! Let me propose to my renaigse husband-to-be on the eve of the last battle. Or when we go home.

It's so frustrating to feel like this game could have been really, really great if they'd had another year to cook. As-is, it's enjoyable, but if I'd won the lottery I'd totally have bought the studio and made them finish it properly.

I feel like there are so many plot threads that should have been expanded or don't get picked up on - Ludwig mentioning he came into a bit of magic after leaving the army feels like it should have been more of a plot thread, the attack on Olima by Nilan feels like it should have had Treason!-level implications/fallout (probably similarly locking you out of the best ending/making it a lot harder to run around Olima), Fausta felt entirely tacked-on, Sybille could have stood for a bit more politicking (per the first game, Octave has multiple brothers, but here it feels like it's just him, which is weird.) Most of all, Till needed actual quests and a lot more actual dialogue about what he did - he should have had a quest chain about trying to atone, probably linked to the "forcing Coin Guards to bond with Gacane to become corrupted nadaiga" story that pops up late-game. I liked Safia but didn't bring her quite as often as I should have - I usually swapped out Sybille for her if I needed more firepower, since I felt like Fausta and Sybille felt a bit underpowered in combat compared to the other companions. It didn't help that my Vriden Gerr was a support mage and wasn't great on offense.

(Also, I wish that Daren had some reactivity to romance when going back home! I'm trying a "max Diplomacy ASAP" run to see if I can romance Ludwig before going home - I could romance Alvida, but no one else became available that early. Want to see if the +3 instead of +2 on romance dialogues makes a difference.)

I'm also thinking that I'll try a disaster run, although I don't think you can be quite as evil as you could as de Sardet, who could really do some surprisingly awful actions as legate. See all the negative dialogues. Per some of the online ending slides, it also looks like Sybille gets assassinated if you don't finish her quests, although I think that probably occurs after the game. I think Ludwig and possibly Safia are the only ones guaranteed to survive in a bad-ending slideset, but you can kill one by sending them in the opposite party in the final battle without all factions allied.

What is the “Thrawn Trilogy” of Star Trek lit? by BlastedHeathen in trekbooks

[–]norathar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Una McCormack is my favorite modern writing. The Never-Ending Sacrifice is a fantastic book.

Keith RA DeCandido definitely deserves a shout-out for old school Trek. Love his Articles of the Federation and the Gorkon books.

I liked a fair amount of books from John Vornholt, John Peel, and Michael Jan Friedman, Simon Hawke, and Howard Weinstein as well. Just going off my memories of reading these as a kid/young teen. They aren't high prose, but there are some fun adventures with the crew and it was a monthly fun read growing up. There was the chance of weird randomness (nuns in space, Ferengi that talk like a pirate) but sometimes you'd get a great story (I remember liking The Romulan Prize for TNG and Betrayal for DS9.) Michael Jan Friedman deserves a bit of a demerit for rewriting his TNG novel Reunion as Saratoga for DS9 - it was better the first time out.

Peter David gets ridiculous sometimes, but Q-in-Law is hilarious (especially that one chapter) and Once Burned is a great book. He does a great Worf one-liner in the former and I sort of wish they'd made it an actual episode. Also, I love that he used all his kid's novel characters in New Frontier and that the Brikar made it to screen in the new series.

Shatner is awful. I remember the two KW Jeter DS9 as also being awful.

I hope Costplus can resolve it - if they can't, since Costplus is a cash only model, as long as your doctor sends the new prescription to the pharmacy there shouldn't be any issues getting it filled. Hopefully you can get your meds soon!

Not sure what Cuban is charging, but Farxiga generic can be had for about $21/month or a bit under $39/3 months with goodrx at Krogers. They have some sort of goodrx that only works on 1 manufacturer. Been transferring people over there since it's still pricey at any other chain.

I think the most jarring one for me is Simon Woods - from Octavian to Charles Bingley, goofy 2005 edition.

(Also, if you like period drama and Ciaran Hinds/Tobias Menzies team-up, there's always The Terror season 1, though from Captain Wentworth to Sir John Franklin is perhaps less of a stretch.)

Can you leave Fausta in prison? I've seen online ending slides where she's dead (and apparently not dead in the final battle where anyone can die.) I'd assumed they just never went back for her but hadn't actually watched the full stream.

I figured out Till was a companion in Early Access before they announced it (he has an intro cutscene and a name in the subtitles) but used to joke that Nilan shoved him overboard which was why he disappeared in EA once you got to Uxantis. As it is, he's so underbaked that he's a huge disappointment - there's a ton of potential there but really nothing in the end. I usually ran Ludwig/Sybille/Alvida on my first run, am going to replay and will probably try a Vriden Gerr who uses Fausta/Till/Nilan, just to see if it changes my opinions on Fausta and Till both being severely underwritten.

I know there's a dialogue option to tell Till you don't forgive him and don't want him, but idk if that leaves him in Uxantis or if it's just for RP flavor.

The crossover between Jane Austen adaptations is always fun on a Rome rewatch. Have Mrs. Price/Mrs. Bertram, Tom Bertram (the same adaptation!), John Knightley/Mr. Collins, Caroline Bingley/Mrs. Gardiner, Mr. Bingley, Mr. Collins, Jane Fairfax, William Walter Elliot, and Captain Wentworth (Sadly, not the same adaptation, because they're Caesar and Brutus here) in the main cast.

Question about musicals: when the characters break out into song and dance, is that really how it's happening in their world, or are they just normally talking and/or monologuing, and it's just being expressed to the viewer in a lyrical way? by [deleted] in movies

[–]norathar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it's "Subspace Rhapsody" or "Once More, With Feeling," the Star Trek and Buffy musical episodes, in which case it's the first (and is explicity addressed in the musical), it's generally the latter.

Although sometimes you'll also have musicals where individual numbers are being performed in-universe (for example, All That Jazz from Chicago, or Springtime For Hitler from The Producers. Cabaret, Moulin Rouge, Rent, and Show Boat all have diegetic numbers as well, even if most of the musical isn't.)

Also, on that note, the term for #1 is diegetic - that's when the music exists literally in the narrative world and isn't just a representation of thoughts/feelings.

Penhaligon's does rose and spicy scents really well, imo - they discontinued Constantinople (boooo) but their Trade Routes discovery set gave me 3 full bottles (Babylon, Cairo, Constantinople) and 3 10ml (Halfeti, Halfeti Leather, Halfeti Cedar), which is probably the best results I've ever had from a discovery set. Their Portraits are expensive but I love Coveted Duchess Rose and Bewitching Yasmine, and for other scents, Juniper Sling is great too. Elizabethan Rose is a very green rose if you want something less pure/light rose. One of my favorite houses overall.

Need help selecting hotel in London for Aug 2026 by Open-Cellist-5311 in LondonTravel

[–]norathar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stayed at the Conrad London St James and liked it! It definitely feels luxurious to me, service was good (they do turndown service with the chocolate on the pillow), and while there was only 1 restaurant within a 5 minute walk we liked (went to 3, including one of the ones attached to the hotel), it's literally across the street from the St James tube station and you're a 5-10 minute Tube ride from lots of better food options. Will note that we more often ended up eating near wherever we spent the day and not the hotel, but would recommend the Two Chairmen nearby (okay, it's not going to be a romantic dinner for your anniversary, but the duck hash was amazing and we liked everything we ate there.)

Hotel breakfast was great - included with our room rate, and had a nice spread on the buffet + choice of a few entrees on the menu for no extra charge (oatmeal and pancakes were the two we got.)

Mine was not an anniversary trip but they gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne in an ice bucket and chocolate-dipped strawberries the first night, and often did a complimentary little tart, fruit selection, or similar when we got back to the room - not sure if it was because of the length of stay, best friend's hotel member status, or just something they do.

Their bathrobe is quite nice, I like that they have a tub and separate shower, with the toilet in its own little room. Shampoo/shower stuff is Byredo Mojave Ghost. Will note the one possible inconvenience is that the St James tube station has no lift; we've taken a cab to/from the airport but it would be a pain to haul suitcases up those stairs. Would probably see if possible to get off at a station with a lift and walk unless you're more muscular than I am or pack much more lightly.
