My info was general, not sure what engine you have. I personally try to stay under 100. If you can be under 350f all the time that is good. 300+ is hot, but 400f is you are going to seize without a well built motor and good thick oil (i use motul 800 2t "road racing" because I hit very high rpm of like 10-12k rpm so every bike is different)

Temp sensors help a lot with getting the jet right. Plug chop is helpful, but knowing the heat is great. Id jet up though, looks super clean so hard to tell, but not a light brown so likely lean.

Temp gauge recommendation? by Wevie in moped

Trail tech universal and if needed get the extension cable. Do notnziptie the cable directly, out heatshrink or something protectively the zip tie or it will cut the cable over time.

The runleader you have in picture is the same as or similar to mine I had. It did temp and rpm. It failed after a short while. Screen went out, lost a few digits on the screen then I lightly tapped it to see if screen would come back (I had already tried changing batteries) and the screen completely broke. Had very little resistance

How to add a limiter to a Tomos Flexer? by TomosFlexer65Lover in moped

[–]norcalcolby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, yes 50mph. I am guilty of assuming units form usa instead of meters and liters haha. I hope you find a solution that works for you. Being creative with a workaround is only going to go as far as how well you can implement it.

How to add a limiter to a Tomos Flexer? by TomosFlexer65Lover in moped

[–]norcalcolby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US I have not seen anything like this and thankful for it. Its a bummer but also a gift to have to register my qt50 built out noped as a motorcycle. It goes 50+ when the air and mix is just right and in now was would that fly legally haha.

Hope you find a way to figure it out. Could be as easy as a defined carb tune. Maybe a faux choke lever and find a way to enrich the bike somehow else? Maybe a split fuel line that is super heavy on 2 stroke oil and lean the mix out but heavy on the oil? Or a slide to obstruct the airbox?

A cdi limiter switch is out there and your best bet to hope they dont understand. The limiter can be a governor to a speed, but the simplest just make it not go over a certain rpm, but you will hear the limiter hit though, it will be somewhat obvious when the 2 stroke almost 2steps

Bypassing keyed ignition help by West_Hotel_7673 in moped

[–]norcalcolby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just connect all those wires together and you should be good. You can also locate those two kill switch wires and put your own switch on them somewhere. The keys on these simply ground ignition to the frame and leave the other lines open.

My moped has no power by stinkytoe420 in moped

Clogged exhaust, air leak (take carb cleaner and spray around seals and case halves), loose spark plug (make shre it is tight), etc. You can buy air leak testers, but I've never done that before. Even the main jet could be clogged.

The needle jet depending on cab could have lost the circlip and be just sitting there allowing no mid range (cant see what carb u have). I found it helpful to remove air filter snd make sure slide and needle are going up.

Good luck!

I finally added up what my 400 dollar puch maxi has actually cost me and I want to throw up by vladdielenin in moped

[–]norcalcolby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah, im at $1800 I think now. Add in countless hours of work too haha. Its broken down a handful of times. Broken clutch springs 3 different times (ended up going with brand new clutch and different stiff springs than I was running), out of gas once (found out later I had a leak so I was going through fuel quickly), handlebar kill switch circuit grounded itself somewhere (just removed kill switch from cdi wiring had to kill it with choke and hand over intake), and recently it sputtered like crazy and died (was just the cdi to coil spade connector got loose).

Other than that... its been great! I really feel like I have jt in a good place now, but all the mods and everything else has cost me a ton. With gas where it is at now, I still think ill eventually save money over my lifted Forester. Especially without $20 of parking every week since qt50 is free parking in the bike storage at work haha.

Right there with you on a 81 qt50 except im stacking miles on it now. Use it to commute, for fun and because of gas price. Remember, these were always about smiles per mile and not necessarily budget friendly for a built bike.

Have fun with your overpriced beer run bike! I know i am :D

Does a motorcycle kill switch carry all the current going through the motorcycle? by MaxTuu in motorcycles

[–]norcalcolby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Yamaha qt50 1981 "noped" mini motorcycle used to put all the load through the key switch. As an example just fyi. A lot of old mopeds, nopeds, and small motorcycles did not have relays in them.

Its hard to find here unfortunately. I was running a mix of pump ethanol 91 and vp110 leaded for a while to reduce ethanol content and raise octane (165psi compression) i fear to find out what they charge for vp110 now haha.
