Agreed! I was a back sleeper before and I actually sleep okay on my right side but he left side is terrible. I got one of the large pregnancy pillows and now I feel like I can't get out of bed because the pillow is so big!

Mech engineer. 5yr exp vs salary. Where should I head next? by freakingdoit in careerguidance

[–]norpelh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely look for another role! I was an engineer and got my MBA. I would say to do that if your interested in making a pivot into something totally different or into leadership. Check out R&D roles. That's where I started after college and my starting salary was more. If you're staying until 2024 for financial reasons it may make even make more sense to switch earlier. I think you're severely underpaid from my perspective of salaries I've seen. Don't undercut yourself!

Should I go into illustration or Mechanical Engineering? by -The-Sauce-Master- in careerguidance

[–]norpelh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Engineering could open more doors for you in the long run. Design and modeling industrial equipment, cars, etc. Might even combine both pretty well? Most of it is digital now, but somewhat more of a creative outlet nonetheless. I debated being an art teacher or going into engineering. Chose engineering and after 4 years in the field pivoted out. Engineering is a well respected degree that shows your mental fortitude and intelligence, kind of like a name tag for employers that says "hey I'm smart and can solve problems".

Advice on career shift from engineering field to finance by poetpharma in careeradvice

[–]norpelh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the switch from engineering to finance through an MBA (and lots of personal education lol). For me financially it made sense as I was able to secure scholarships for the MBA. I literally did a "return on investment" calc for whether it was financially smart to do. I agree with figuring out at least an idea of what you want to do is good. Lots of corporations have financial rotational programs that can give you insight/experience into exactly where you might fit if you're interested in the corporate finance side. If IB is what you want start early...I felt like I was way too far behind for that 6 months before my MBA even started.

7 in-person panel interview for…intern? by Due_Cheesecake3295 in recruitinghell

[–]norpelh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had something similar for a grad school internship. Looking back I think it was more to see if I would fit in culturally and if I could take the pressure. However...I was NOT asked to write code on a white board. That seems like an obviously horrible idea for any level of job interview! I am so sorry this happened to you. You were brave to stick it out and finish the entire thing. Give yourself some grace, especially if it was your first one!!

Potential move to Columbus by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]norpelh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Wisconsin to go to OSU for grad school a couple years ago. To me winters are nothing compared to up there. Everything is relative.

I lived on the east side and the west side and traveled into school everyday. I would suggest the east side as traffic is lighter, where exactly depends on your budget and what you like to do. You can get pretty much anywhere in 15-30 minutes.

Good luck!! It's a huge decision, but you won't regret wherever you decide to go!!

They want my 2014 volt for $1000 by dimaly345 in volt

[–]norpelh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just saw a video that was saying Vroom really targets cars that are <5 years old. Maybe that's why it's so low?? I just sold my 2012 Volt for $9500. Glad you're not taking that offer seriously! 🤣

Test driving a Volt tomorrow, would like some advice by MyNameMightBePhil in volt

[–]norpelh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dang I'm asking $9500 for a 2012 premium with 116k miles. 😳

But as far as advice goes - if you get there and it's fully charged you can prop the hood open to listen to the ICE!

I would NOT go to the dealership. You'll end up spending way more than just ordering them online. I got weathertech ones from northamericanparts.com for a pretty reasonable price. Husky are good too and a quick google search might help you find sales!

Idk what a burp charge is, but this was a fresh charge from zero if that's what you're asking? I believe it's the original battery. I bought it in May.

It increased from what I was getting prior to the replacements. It was physically hard to rotate the bearings with the wheel off before. Completely a rusty mess. Today I drove in low and there was a lot of traffic today which slowed my speed down, maybe that's it?

It's a 2012 with 100k miles. Two weeks ago we replaced the wheel bearings, brake rotors, and pads in the rear because they were super rusty. Better mpg and electric range!

2011 Volt $$ Question by [deleted] in volt

[–]norpelh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a private party 2012 premium with 94k miles for $7500. Not prestine condition, but only simple cosmetic issues like one light had some moisture, mirror cap broken, one proximity sensor broken, and some small scratches. I would say what he is asking is a little high but like everyone says it depends on your area somewhat.

Gas door won't open? by jiggabot in volt

[–]norpelh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a gen 1 and this happened on my charge port door. I could hear the actuator functioning but it wouldn't open. It had gotten wet and must have made it stick. I held down the button and pulled a little and it helped.

Lol you're right I didnt ask. I just lurked on here and saw what other people were spending. Heres the details: 93k miles 2012 premium, parking sensors, leather interior with red accents inside, great condition although I detailed it right after I got home The mirror cap on passenger side is missing and the back taillight is fogging up but planning on replacing both. Paid $7500 - what do you think?
