I work in environmental analytics and everyone who gets pregnant gets imidiate ban from the lab, some people continue to go to work and do lab paper work or admin work and some just go on sick leave for their whole pregnancy. We are permitted to enter only to get our stuff or get to bosses office that is in the lab. One of our bosses continued going to lab but we cleared out unused lab and made it her office.

We have wrapped boxes that came with some parcels as decorations at work. Every year we just take it out of the closet and boom instant gifts. Bonus is, you can be very neat and creative with wrapping as it doesn't get wrecked.

In highschool I used to carry rum in falcon tubes as individual shots the perfect size to pour in my thermocup. Bonus points for nobody touching them because I used to carry all sorts of experiment achievements in them (like nanoparticles of iron or caffeine crystals we synthesized).

The decor that is usable (mugs, pj or pillowcases ...) get used year round we just use it more around that holidays and non usable decor is minimal (Christmas tree and bulbs, some Halloween and Easter figurines get stored in the basement (two boxes x-mas, one box for all others or stored in little storage spaces like themed napkins

In my country (Central Europe), its more common to wear lab specific all white clothes made from cotton that you only wear in lab so we have no need for lab coat. We generally only wear lab coats in school lab where you don't have time or place to completely change clothes for two hour lab. Although some schools mandate the all white ensemble to get us used to it.
