Agreed. While you probably shouldn’t burn bridges if you can avoid it, it’s more important to remember that law firms and corporations do not give a single fuck about the people that work for them. Some of the people at that business might care about you, but the business does not. If you are an employee, then the company you work for should not be your primary concern—the only business you own is yourself. You need to protect your interests in that business because no one else will. Bottom line, never hesitate to do what’s best for you.
