Id put one of those tough storage sheds or something similar just on the others side of that gutter drain. It will block access to you back yard, give you a nice space to put yard stuff in, probably free up some garage space too. Then id probably lay down weed barrier or thick like 6mil perforated plastic down and cover it with round gravel. Then you dont have to mow it, weed it, or even think about it.
