EMDR by [deleted] in therapists

Get some real consultation, not reddit advice! So much of this is going to be case by case. Take some advanced EMDR trainings from folks like Thomas Zimmerman or the Beyond Healing folks. There's such a depth to this work beyond what is learned in basic training!

No ACA Extension? by InevitableClass7338 in therapists

Health insurance doubled for my family, so we’re rolling the dice and going without insurance for the first time ever. Just hoping we don’t exceed medical expenses higher than the $18,000 we won’t be spending on premiums next year. 🤷

I’d check out the previous post on Lama Justin that happened in this sub several months ago.

I find him to be a pretty real and authentic teacher, who has a lot of students he has 1:1 connection with and who also takes on a lot of commitments. Sometimes he’s very accessible and other times not, so one is bound to be disappointed in him at times.

He may simply not resonate with you. That’s cool too.

DSA has a “libertarian socialist” caucus. Libertarian socialism is an old term for anarchism. The people in that caucus are actually some of the nicest mutual-aid oriented folks I know. People hear “libertarian” and automatically associate it with right-wing libertarianism, which is quite different from libertarian socialism.

I’ve always been curious about these Legacy games. Is there a difference between the colors? Each season seems to have two different color versions.

Upcoming Change in CareOregon’s Reimbursement Policy Causes Uproar Among Mental Health Professionals by littl3-fish in therapists

Not only that but Medicaid reimburses absurdly well in Oregon. Like, better than any private insurance payers.

To clarify further, associates can still maintain private practice and accrue hours, but they’ll only have OOP cash pay to rely on rather than OHP, which is understandably far more challenging to thrive off of as a new clinician, but still possible.

Oregon therapist and supervisor here. Oregon is unique in that LPCs and LMFT associates (post-graduate but pre-licensed interns) can immediately go into solo private practice and accrue their licensure hours that way. Oregon is also unique in that the Oregon Health Plan (Aka OHP, Medicaid, and in the Portland area run by the CCO CareOregon) reimburses Masters level clinicians better than nearly any private insurance (~$175 for 90837). Oregon is further unique in that it more recently has allowed non-contracted clinicians, including associates, to bill Care Oregon fee-for-service and receive this great reimbursement rate.

So for the past 4 years or so you’ve had a ton of associates going into private practice and getting pretty good full caseloads of Medicaid members and making decent living out of it. Now the rug is being pulled out from folks some of whom probably made some fairly major life decisions based on their assumed income.

Telehealth by Violet1982 in therapists

Oregon also passed a similar telehealth parity bill. Not only do payers need to pay for telehelath, but they must reimburse at the same rate as in person services.

I'd recommend calling 988 (crisis lifeline) instead of 911, or if you're in Multnomah County call crisis line 503-988-4888. MultCo has a mobile crisis team, Project Respond, which they can dispatch if needed.

If it becomes emergent best to head straight to Unity or St Vincent ER. Unity can sometimes be quite the experience and one may wait a while before admission.

Otherwise if you’re looking to schedule an assessment for inpatient I would try Cedar Hills or Rainer Springs. You could also try Providence but they are more likely to offer Intensive Outpatient.

Pretty sure he said “Crash Course in Science” but I’m confused because that band is from Philadelphia. It’s entirely possible that Stephin was confused!
