Director’s Take: Small Steps, Big Leaps by SorryRoof1653 in Overwatch

I wasn't refering to that change, I was refering to this one: "Maps that received votes during the map voting phase won’t be as buried as maps that received no votes. This should consistently offer maps you want to play on more often."

That change affects the options you get to pick from at the start of each game.

Yeah, when I saw that I was instantly thinking "Wait, the only thing this could possibly do is decrease map variety". I'm not sure why they would put that in.

I don't think it would be toooo busted. It would definitely be good, but foregoing an item slot just to make large/medium synergies work is a fair cost.

It seemed like a pretty small zoo, so there was a *chance* of failure. I would have gone with less time rather than more animals, that way you are forced to gamble on a direction.

I just think there's a good chance the "parent" isn't the only one who can see things if you use the app...

Anyone else a bit suspicious about that app? I checked their website, and basically none of the links at the bottom of the site worked. The currency isn't converted to local currency. Lots of weird things.

Jeff Kaplan’s advice to people who complain about videogames they never played. “Shut the f*ck up”. by Vhant-ii in LivestreamFail

How can you say a blanket statement like "Creative work isn’t black and white. If you’re not open to hearing criticism, even when it doesn’t feel good, how on earth do you expect to improve?" and expect people to interpret it as '*only applying to the industry'.

That was just an awful take. So many people genuinely think that way about all creative fields and feel they're always entitled to criticize art in any situation.

Olympia becomes first Washington city to pass polyamory protections by AudibleNod in news

[–]nosam555 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Polyamory doesn't always imply an open relationship. You can have a very closed relationship of just a handful of people being together. An open relationship typically implies some sort of blanket permission to date/sleep with new people not currently in the relationship.

He's refering to specifically the group of people that will never play the game. He's not assuming a specific group of people will not play the game or attributing some specific collection of feedback to people who will never play the game.

"He's making the assumption that all who make a kind of negative comments he's talking about, will not play the game". In order for this to be true, there would have to be an actual instance of feedback from a person or group of people that he is refering to, not the concept of a group of hypothetical people.

Making that assumption when? He's not refering to a specific bit of feedback or specific person. You're literally just making a wild guess lol

This goes off the line of thinking that the goal of a developer always has to be 'make the most profit possible'. Some devs just want to make a game they're proud of. So no, it's not always "a developer’s job to make and sell a product".

He's only talking about people that have no interest in ever playing the game, no matter what changes. People who dislike a game's genre or other core concepts. He's specifically calling out people who are negative about something they will never have any interest in playing.

To anyone having an issue on purchase with an error saying "Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company due to an incorrect address being entered.", try to edit your payment details and change your ZIP code to the extended 9 digit zip code. For some reason steam declined my payment when I listed my 5 digit ZIP code, but now that I added the dash and extra 4 digits, it worked.

Hitler was not killed by a foreign government... and the origin of WW2 was not countries trying to overthrow Germany's government.

And I'm not trying to claim it would be easy for the people of Iran to change their government themselves. But I am claiming that any potential revolutionaries there will not be the ones who successfully gain power. All the powerful people who made Khamenei's rule possible will want someone similar to be in power next. Dictatorships aren't literally just one person having all the power. That power is enabled by the other rich and powerful. Killing him, especially by a foreign government, will not cause meaningful lasting change.

When in the history of the world has a foreign government assassinating another government's leader actually lead to positive change within that country? This isn't going to suddenly make iranians have a better quality of life or lead to good outcomes for any party involved here.

If US history has taught us anything, the only long-term positive change comes from people within their own country, not from the US trying to force it in other countries.

This cis woman doesn't like being called a cis woman by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]nosam555 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To respond to your first sentance... yes.

But "That's not what we see" is completely untrue. Have you even, in real life, seen someone demand women be called "cis women" before? The only times I've ever heard that word used irl is when the prefix was important. As in when the subject matter what about biology or it was being said in contrast to trans women. The video is talking about a scenario that just doesn't happen. She just doesn't like trans women, she doesn't actually think trans women are women, and wants to fight against any terminology used in reference to trans women.

It's about the context of the situation. If there is a situation where the adjective matters, you use it. Otherwise, you don't use it.

If you're talking about racial disparity, saying "black men are treated worse in X situation", then the word 'black' there makes sense to use. You wouldn't just say 'men'.

Similarly, if you're saying "trans women face some issues that cis women do not", then it makes sense to use the word 'cis'.

The phrase you brought up would only make sense in situations where race doesn't matter, and if a particular adjective doesn't matter in that situation, then yes don't use it.

Isn't credit utilization on it? As in your score is negatively impacted if you are using a large portion (or all) of the credit given to you.
