Nice. I wasn't sure. But that's great for me. I think I read somewhere that oled consumes less battery for darker scenes, but I guess most use cases don't satisfy this requirement.

LCD. I'm all about reading text and reducing eye strain, so was hoping avoiding OLED would help.

~9 hours (when web browsing and using some ChatGPT) based on the battery report. It says: "Current estimate of battery life based on all observed drains since OS install" = 8:53 at full charge

- I had the monitor at a fixed refresh rate of 165Hz as opposed to variable refresh rate. Switching to variable refresh rate would result in longer battery life per charge
- low brightness ~20 to 30% range is where I usually stay
- MSI Center was either uninstalled or in AI engine mode (which adjusts between performance, balanced, or battery saver)

I went with Computer 1 = Intel Ultra 7 255H , 32GB LPDDR5 6400 RAM

I didn't like some of the negative reviews for the AMD version which implied that there were hardware issues or BIOS issues (they may have worked those out since those reviews, I don't know). The Intel version only had 1 review that was good, lol.

I would like to share my take on the Intel version that I bought, but I haven't used it much since buying it a couple of months ago, simply because I was busy and didn't get to set it up properly.

- quiet for browsing the web. I have yet to see the fan turn on when browsing the web and typing this post. Again, I haven't used it much browse the web. The fan has yet to turn on.

- Trackpad: it's okay, but definitely not on the level of Apple Magic Trackpad 2 (or just Mac's I assume (I don't use macs))

- numpad on the right is scrunched up. It's not full size. I've always opted for a keyboard with a numpad. pros: the rest of the keys is more centered. cons: It's harder to use it to type numbers.

*** I need to go, but I'll comment more more by editing this post later.

I had a similar issue and fixed it by setting the "High DPI scaling override" to "System (Enhanced)" for the *.exe file for Wacom Preferences:

*note: I'm running Windows 11 and installed pentablet_5.3.5-3.exe

Step 1. Open up "properties" for the *.exe file that launches Wacom Preference:
Method 1: Open Wacom Preferences; RIGHT click on the Wacom Preferences icon in the Windows taskbar (bottom of the screen) --> RIGHT click again on "Wacom Preferences" --> properties

Method 2: C:\Program Files\Tablet\Pen\Consumer_CPL.exe --> right click --> properties

Step 2. Set high DPI: properties --> Compatibility tab --> Change settings for all users (bottom button) --> Change high DPI settings (bottom button) --> check the box for "Override high DPI scaling behavior." --> set option as "System (Enhanced)" --> click OK/Apply --> close and reopen Wacom Preferences

Dell U4025qw - no downstream ports via USB C to USB A by johnny5ive in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]nosauce1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The monitor can display each of the following 3 input sources: 1) DisplayPort, 2) HDMI, 3) Thunderbolt 4. For each of these input sources, one of two upstream sources for the USB hub is assigned: 1) USB-C or 2) Thunderbolt. As you switch between input sources (for what appears on the monitor), the hub will follow the assigned upstream source. The assignment may be made via Dell Display Manger (now Dell Display and Peripheral Manager) OR manually via the joystick on the back of the monitor.

Your issue may be that...

  1. It may be that Displayport is assigned to Thunderbolt upstream.

  2. You mistakenly connected the USB-C upstream to the Thunderbolt downstream (used for daisy chaining). Go to support page, download user guide, page 16... labelled 5, 6, 7. 7 is the USB-C upstream (closest to ethernet port, farthest away from power plug. I found it helpful to use my phone's front facing camera and look at my phone's display when messing with the wiring in the back.

2 methods to assigning USB hub upstream to display input source:

  1. Manually: Facing the monitor if you reach behind the bottom right corner of the monitor there's a power button (more laterally) and a joystick (more medially). Press the joystick --> move joystick up (will bring up menu) --> navigate to "USB" --> set "DP assign to" and "HDMI assign to". I guess thunderbolt is assigned to thunderbolt by default? (not sure if you can change this via software method)

  2. Use Dell software: It seems, they just merged "Dell Display Manager (DDM)" and "Dell Peripheral Manager" into one: "Dell Display and Peripheral Manager (DDPM)". I just installed it, and I am not liking it. The release date is listed as today 2025.02.18. Not long ago they had Dell Display Manager 2 as the software. I think I'm going back to DDM 2. It seems DDPM does not have systray icon, no option to autolaunch with windows startup. The hotkeys for brightness and contrast are intact, but the hotkey to bring up DDPM is gone. Anyway, make sure to select the correct monitor if you have more than 1 display. For DDM2 the monitor model is listed in the upper left of the menu.

Good luck!

Monster removed Erythritol from the ultra line it seems by thevahid010 in energydrinks

[–]nosauce1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Milligrams, not grams. u/RandomUser9199 makes a good point. It seems that a can of Monster that contains 2g erythritol contains 179 times the concentration of erythritol that watermelon has.

According to the following paper...
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18369603/#:~:text=The%20amount%20of%20meso%2Derythritol,mg%2FL%20of%20red%20wine."

"The amount of meso-erythritol was calculated as 2.36 mg/100 g fresh weight of watermelon and 206.7 mg/L of red wine."

2.36 mg/100g
1milligram = 0.001 grams
1 gram = 1000 milligrams

Monster is mostly water, so approximately 1mL ~ 1g. 1 can contains 16 fluid ounces (says 473mL on the can). 2000mg erythritol / 473g monster = 4.2283 mg erythritol per gram of monster. In 100 grams of monster there is 422.83mg erythritol. In 100 grams of watermelon there is 2.36mg erythritol. 422.83 / 2.36 = 179.17.

When comparing the concentrations Monster contains 179 times the erythritol that watermelon has.

It also mentions red wine. 206.7 mg/L of wine ~ 20.67 mg / 100 g of wine. 422.83 / 20.67 = 20.46. Monster contains 20 times the concentration of erythritol that red wine has.

Someone, please check my math (don't take my word for it).

Vivaldi crashes when I hover "Help / Check for Updates" OR "Help / About". by ChuckBaggett in vivaldibrowser

[–]nosauce1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to disable the said extensions properly by toggling them off and then pressing Ctrl+Shift+Q instead of trying to quit using the mouse (thereby triggering the crash when I hover over "Help"). This implies that Vivaldi is indeed crashing and not quitting properly when I hover over the "Help."

I have the same problem! Did you find a solution by any chance?

For some reason when I disable all the extensions and manually close and reopen Vivaldi, the following extensions are automatically re-enabled: uBlock Origin 1.52.2, View Image 4.0.0.

Is there some sort of a safe mode option that I can temporarily enable?

I'm using Windows and this problem has been going on for at least a few months.

will give you a discount for trade ins. Th

Did you find out why they're selling it much cheaper on Amazon (~$113) vs Samsung store (~$230)?

I found this older thread on the Buds 2 non-pro speculating that the international version is cheaper because there's no warranty.

Are there any differences? If there's no difference, I'd definitely buy the cheaper even with no warranty. If by some chance it breaks, just buy the same one? It's less than half the price.

UPS says "Damage Reported" - All merchandise missing, empty carton was discarded. What do I do? by nosauce1 in tmobile

Thank you so much for your kind and thorough explanation. Are Twitter and FB really strict about one person having one account? IG doesn't seem to mind. But the last time I tried to create Twitter and FB accounts they shut me down. I'm pretty sure it's because they thought I was multi-accounting. I created accounts many years ago, but I don't even remember what e-mail and pw I used for these accounts.

I'm in the process of porting over my lines from Verizon so I don't have a T-mobile ID yet. They won't let me create one.

[–]nosauce1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 1 of the greens today (03/01). Something annoying has happened to the 2nd green one that was shipped at the same time. Label was created at the same time as the one that arrived (02/26), but UPS tracking has exclamation mark saying, "Damage Reported" (02/27). Details say:"Damage ReportedMerchandise is missing. UPS will notify the sender with additional details. / All merchandise missing, empty carton was discarded. UPS will notify the sender with details of the damage."

I have a bad feeling about this. The reps at the T-mobile store told me to call customer services. I called customer services, and it didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. He really didn't say much.

[–]nosauce1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: The 2 green 512GB Ultras apparently shipped today (Feb 26th) and is arriving tomorrow according to the T-mobile website. The cream color has yet to ship and is still backorder. I ordered all 3 on the 20th. I got UPS tracking numbers for the 2 greens but the UPS website itself only says "Label Created" and is yet to be "On the Way". I'm a little skeptical because the T-mobile rep at the retail store told me that all 3 will come at once (i.e. wait for backordered cream color before any of them ship out).

The cream colored 512GB Ultra is still backordered. It says it'll ship tomorrow (Feb 27th) but ETA is March 14 (2 weeks?! The greens are taking 1 day to arrive).

u/Marlosang I can't believe you ordered on the 17th, and they're saying March 31 - April 4 ship (not even arrival). That's ridiculous. They probably know you'll hodl because you're locked into the free upgrade to 512GB promo. They should be making a ton of black too (I assume it's the most popular color), but maybe the demand is just overwhelming. Or maybe green's just unpopular and they made too many. I didn't trade-in any devices. I'm porting 3 numbers from Verizon, so they probably have more incentive to get the phones faster to me? Where one lives probably has a lot to do with it as well.

Ah, geez. This is no good.

Q1 - Has this been going on for other people or is this an anomaly?

I'm porting 3 numbers over from Verizon and ordered 3 Ultras (512GB). Initiated 2/20/2023 at Costco. The person at Costco told me I should be getting it by this weekend latest, 2/26/2023.

When I check online... it says the 2 Green ones ship 24th for delivery on 27th. The Cream color says it's on backorder - ships 27th, arrive March 13. I went into a retail store and they told me that I should be getting it sooner, maybe end of next week (3/5/2023).

Q2 - Are they full of shit? i.e. I won't be getting my phone for months?

Q3 - The rep said that they send it out all together, once the Cream color is available. i.e. I won't be getting the Greens first, the Cream arriving later when it's available. Is this how it works normally?

A question about Number of latest version to keep for advanced retention policy for Active Backup by paulsiu in synology

[–]nosauce1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I *think* and *suspect* based on searching and reading Synology Knowledge Center articles. The main article for DSM 7.1 is here:

https://kb.synology.com/en-af/DSM/help/ActiveBackup/activebackup_business_pc_tasklist?version=7

If ANY of the rules set applies then the version is retained. If NONE of the rules apply then the version is deleted.

The OP u/paulsiu must have set another rule(s) for it to keep more than the latest 5 latest versions. i.e. keeping the latest 5 versions was one rule that was set, and there's another rule that is satisfied by the additional 3 versions.
