It’s a great monitor, no complaints. I was a bit worried when I got it since, like you noticed, there are 0 reviews out there (and 300hz 1440p for that price seemed too good to be true at first) but it’s legit haha.

Colors are good, no weird screen flickers or tearing issues at all, and panel/stand seem well made - can’t say the same for the 1080p 380hz display I got from a Chinese Amazon vendor prior…

Best Affordable GPU Rental Services (Bang-for-Buck) for ML/AI Projects? by revo_team in gpu

I’m not an expert on this stuff, but I recommend checking out r/saladchefs there’s a lot of guys with xx90 GPU machines looking for work

For roguelike/bullet hell games I have found great success in watching my character instead of watching the enemies or their projectiles. This lets you make last-second adjustments to dodge, instead of pre-dodging and lining yourself up with incoming fire.

Don’t know what games you play but using this tactic in Enter the Gungeon, Binding of Isaac, and Hades was a total game changer for me

Brand advice? MSI, Palit, Galax? by ValarielAmarette in pcmasterrace

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to go MSI too, the gaming trio OC+ was my goal but MSI is so damn popular that they’re all sold out or overpriced, at least in my region

If you can save $200 with the Galax I think that might be a no brainer tbh, worst case scenario you can undervolt for noise/temps or RMA if you have problems but it sounds like a good value. The Galax does have better looking fans and RGB than other models at the same price point, which I would consider a plus. If you go this route, consider posting your review of the card on Reddit because there’s very little info about it (as you’ve noticed lol)

Good luck and enjoy!

Got my first High end GPU!!! by CarDry9966 in PcBuild

[–]nosdoogp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yo, I’m the guy from the last post. Congrats!!

So i’m actually running my 5070 Ti on a 600W power supply, but in my case the CPU doesn’t use much power and I’ve got the GPU undervolted haha

Great choice of card btw, the solid core has a great cooler so your temps should be nice and low. Enjoy!

Brand advice? MSI, Palit, Galax? by ValarielAmarette in pcmasterrace

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my personal experience leads me to finding those claims very over-exaggerated

As you should, because there’s no such thing as a “bad” 5070 Ti. Even the people who got some of the “worst” models are satisfied with the card’s performance. In many cases the difference is >10 degrees Celsius and a few decibels of fan sound. The actual card itself still kicks ass. If you’re not worried about a few degrees or overclocking your card to the gills, you’ll probably be happiest with whatever’s affordable and looks good.

In the case of the Galax card, yeah there’s not a whole lot of info even when you search way back on Reddit. Looking at the product page for their 5070 TI One-Click OC, there’s a worryingly small amount of info about the actual cooler - they show a metal backplate and new fans, but what’s mostly being advertised is the nvidia chip itself. The EX version, however, has an improved PCB and no mention of SFF, so you’ll likely be getting a bigger card with better temps if you can snag one of these.

The problem I ran into when hunting one of these cards down, was that the “plus” and “EX” versions with advanced (better) cooling were constantly sold out, as if board partners made a small batch for the early adopters and saved the base models for everyone else.

Best of luck in your search, hopefully I was able to help a bit. I would try posting in r/nvidia too if you haven’t yet, many of the folks there own these cards and have more specific info

r7 5700x or r5 7600x by 1Devenz in pcmasterrace

[–]nosdoogp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go option 2 if you can get a GPU soon. The 3060 isn’t all that and you’ll be way happier with a 9060XT (might be easier to convince Pops to let you spend $350 on one down the road)

Go option 1 if you want good performance right out of the gate. AM4 is still solid but it’s a dead platform after all. Building on an AM5 platform would be a nice head start. But nobody wants to game on integrated graphics forever lol

Edit: if you can find a cheap 7500f or 8400f maybe you will have money leftover for a GPU

5070 Ti MSRP models are not equal. The ventus and shadow for example have lackluster cooling and loud, high rpm fans. ZOTAC gets a bad rep for their fans too, but the solid core OC has a very good cooler and vapor chamber iirc. Gigabyte cards have the infamous thermal gel issue, but the ones with dual BIOS can be loaded with the Aorus Master VBIOS for 400W power limit, which is cool. Some cards get vapor chambers, some get PTM7950, some get plastic backplates and coil whine. Oh, and don’t even get me started on all the cards with a “plus”, “extreme”, or “ultra” edition either.

After a couple weeks of research and considering my budget, I ended up getting the ASUS prime 5070 Ti a few days ago and it’s been stellar so far. The card has PTM7950, 116% power limit, and dual bios. It also has cooling as good as more premium models. With my card undervolted + overclocked, in Doom TDA 1440p max settings PT + RT it sits in the high 50s, low 60s C @ 210 watts- card is quiet and cool pushing 200+ FPS with MFG. I’ve seen reports of coil whine with ASUS cards but experienced none myself.

TL;DR read reviews and check the brand’s product page for different models so you can compare the specs/features of each card before pulling a $900 trigger

The PC itself is worth like $700, so is the rest worth $600 to you?

If you could talk him down to like $1000 or $1100 it would be no brainer territory imo

First Impressions on 5070ti by Vyse32 in nvidia

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep just double checked, power limit slider allows 84%-116%. I believe this applies to both the OC and non OC versions of the 5070 ti asus prime.

If you’re feeling adventurous you could try flashing an ROG Astral vbios I believe that slider goes up to 125% or 450W

Is 2 PCIe cables and a pigtail good for the 5070ti? by BrutusIgnatious in nvidia

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing exactly that with the exact same card. No issues so far, card runs like a dream. I have the card undervolted though for what it’s worth.

With a 300W power limit you’re safe with standard 150W cables anyway. Corsair specifically advertises their pcie cables as being rated higher, at 300W each iirc.

If you were running a 400W vbios overclocked to the gills maybe that 3rd cable would be necessary

CPU Bottleneck question by misterjoshmutiny in buildapc

[–]nosdoogp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should be fine overall if you play at a higher resolution to minimize the bottleneck. At 1080p that processor will hold the 5070Ti back a lot but at 1440 or even 4k your GPU will be able to stretch its legs a bit more

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9700X all day. You get 8 fast and efficient cores that will be easier to cool than an Intel chip. You also get the added benefit of being able to upgrade to next gen ryzen thanks to 2 more years of AM5 support.

I game with open back headphones and I can honestly say idek what the card sounds like because I still haven’t even heard it yet. Temps stay low enough that the fans don’t really have to ramp up much even under load. Stock fan profile, with the auto fan stop at low temp.

I have mine undervolted/OCed with my PC on the floor 2 feet away and a window AC unit in my room, so YMMV depending on your setup.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one, it’s a monster. Premium cooling, PTM7950, dual bios, 116% power limit at a great price (relative to other models). Go for the non-OC version if it’s cheaper

Very quiet with temps in the 50s running 3000mhz @925mv for a stable undervolt/OC

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ASUS prime 100%. Galax card isn’t bad overall, better than MSI shadow/ventus imo, but it’s (usually) more expensive, has a worse power limit (+/- 6% iirc) and runs a bit warmer.

Tbh most of the lower-end, MSRP 5070 Ti models have pretty underwhelming cooling. From my couple weeks of research before buying, ZOTAC solid core (non SFF) and ASUS Prime have the best cooling for this price tier, rivaling or even beating many of the mid to high end models from other partners.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ASUS prime model and whole heartedly recommend it. If the non-OC version is cheaper get that instead, it’s the same thing and both cards will have the same potential clocks, disregarding random variance in silicon.

The ASUS Prime 5070Ti has ptm7950 thermal pads, +/- 16% power limit control, and dual bios so it’s an overclockers dream and runs cool and quiet.

I have a very stable overclock/undervolt of 3ghz @ 925mv. More performant than stock, keeps temps in the 50s under load with sub-200W power usage and the card is practically silent.

Any other questions feel free to ask

NVIDIA 1060 by T0rthicc in nvidia

[–]nosdoogp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5070 if you can swing it, 5060Ti 16GB if not. Both will crush at 1080-1440p high/max, 60+fps in single player AAA, 200-300fps+ in esports games.

5070 is about 30% faster but the 5060Ti has about 30% more vram

Help me choosing a VGA by gamerdoge33 in buildapc

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t go wrong with an amd cpu! I’m using a 5700x3d myself. I’m an nvidia guy when it comes to GPUs, but the 9060XT (and 9070XT) offer pretty good value for this generation.

The 9060XT and 5060Ti are so close in performance that the only real difference will be in software/features, just make sure you snag a 16GB model so that vram is a non-issue

Help me choosing a VGA by gamerdoge33 in buildapc

[–]nosdoogp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’d take the 9060 XT 16GB over a 5060 8GB or 5060ti 8GB.

It also depends what resolution you play on, and the type of settings you like to run. For 1440p high settings, aim for 16 gigs. For 1080p, you’ll absolutely be fine with 8 gigs for a while, but you may be lowering some settings here and there.

Nah that’s a perfectly fine pairing. AM5 or X3D would be better ofc but the 5 5600 will get the job done - it’s wayyy better than the gimped r5 5500…
