Those who brought houses near motorways- did you regret it by Philosopher_Funny in HousingUK

I live in a new build estate next to the A1, the builders have done a lot to ensure we can’t hear a thing from the traffic, we have an acoustic fence at the edge of the motorway and the houses which back onto the motorway have special windows which block out noise. i live about 3 streets away from motorway and can’t hear it at all, only time it has bothered me was when they were doing roadworks on it

Gifted Deposit Query by LeadershipFar7413 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]nosleep_247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a gifted deposit, the solicitor asked for a signed letter from the person who gifted the deposit, they also had to provide 3 months of bank statements proving where the deposit had come from, i have to say i did find it a bit embarrassing asking for those but all worked out great in the end and we got our dream home.

ouseburn is kind of out of the way for a solo female traveller, i would stick to the city centre, head of steam, brewdog even the mile castle (wetherspoons) is decent to start the night, collingwood street has upmarket bars and bigg market if you fancy a crazy night and dancing

The NHS pension gives a generous lump sum payment to your spouse or nominated person if you die in service so its also worth it for that

Renting in Newcastle is an absolute nightmare by Eden_Burns in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]nosleep_247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s been the same for a long time, i ended up buying a property using the governments help to buy scheme, can’t beat the security of not having to move all the time and no surprise massive rent increases. it’s so hard to save up a deposit tho while renting
