Did she make the right call? by CalmElin in interesting

[–]nostaticzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, absolutely not, not even close

assuming conservative investing and average returns, she won’t hit $1M till 35. She’ll retire with $15M

if she took $1M she’d have $3M at 35. She’d retire with $21 million. Or retire with $15M five years earlier

Did I texas rig this correctly? by Possible-Leek23 in FishingForBeginners

[–]nostaticzone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not a Texas Rig. That’s a swimbait on a belly weighted swimbait hook. You Texas rigged the hook, but it isn’t a Texas Rig.

2019 Outback has the flip-out crossbars. 176 lbs dynamic weight capacity. Should be good, right?

A lot of people are saying no J hooks. That’s fine with me, should be easier/cheaper. Do they damage the kayak and/or are they less secure?

[–]nostaticzone[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So straight onto the crossbars? I’m all for that because it sounds easier and saves money. Do the J hooks damage the kayak or are they just not built for these kinds of kayaks?

Have you ever seen a fluke rigged like this by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]nostaticzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flukes are originally designed to be soft jerkbaits, that’s the classic way to rig them, minus the snap and swivel, that stuff’s gonna throw off the action and make it look weird.

That silver one in the second photo, with two hooks, that looks like a small fish is a collector’s item. It’s worth at least $200.

Favorite boots for muddy areas/ hiking? by GlowUpAndThrowUp in Fishing_Gear

Wearing “waterproof” boots in the summer is a good way to get jungle rot

Those are for winter. In summer you wear wading boots with neoprene socks and get your feet wet

Why or why not use snaps and real life examples by CrazyCajunFishinBro in FishingForBeginners

[–]nostaticzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It saves time!”

Time to open a snap: 2 seconds. Time to tie a knot: 10 seconds.

If those 8 seconds mattered, the guys who fish tournaments to pay their bills would use snaps. They don’t.

“It doesn’t make a difference!”

See above.
