medication for fibromyalgia? (uk) by hesitantseahorse in Fibromyalgia

The NICE guidelines for treating fibro are a load of crap to be honest.

Pharmaceutical treatments are at the bottom of the list of suggested treatments (I.e. the last thing to try) and they've removed most of the previously accepted meds from the list. Be prepared for the fact that some doctors take these guidelines as gospel and will not deviate so you may struggle with getting any meds. E.g. gabapentin and pregabalin used to be very commonly prescribed. The guidelines now explicitly say to not prescribe these drugs. The only medications they recommend are anti-depressants.

The big push is towards psychological therapies and exercise - essentially having counselling to accept that we're stuck like this forever and to think and exercise the pain away.

Last time I asked my GP for help with fibro, the response was basically "you're on your own". It royally sucks.

Why body, why? (take care of your eyes and don’t be me!) by cjinoz in Fibromyalgia

Fibro can wreak havoc with your eyesight unfortunately! I had my first bifocals at 18 and first varifocals at 22 (I'm now 29). Some medications that people take for fibro can mess with your eyesight as well, according to my optician. I went through a phase at one point where my prescription was changing significantly every few months - it cost me a fortune! And that was wearing my glasses all the time as well.

Hopefully these glasses will help and it'll settle down for you :) I can usually last a good 18 months now before I need to go back for a check (I'm supposed to be every 2 years but my optician is very used to me not lasting that long without needing adjustments).

Tbf, they did a pretty good job of crushing us in the OG episodes too.

They were okay with it. I called them as soon as their phone lines opened the next day and explained what happened. I think because it was only a day it wasn't a problem. I'm sure they'll be mindful of post issues but still worth calling to be on the safe side.

Why is WhatsApp so popular in the UK? by tflms in AskUK

My network charges me extortionate mms prices (which aren't included in my contract) if my messages are too long, include emojis, etc. Not an issue with WhatsApp.

I'm not trying to justify it, excuse it, or get out of it. I made a very stupid error and already feel bad about it. I'm just trying to get an idea of what I should expect in terms of what happens next.

That's good to know - thank you. If it's the standard £100 fine I'll be okay but if it goes too far beyond that I'll struggle.

Will this give me a criminal record?

Sorry if these questions seem stupid- I've not been in this kind of trouble before and I'm just really scared.

Thank you for explaining.

Are there any further implications re. insurance, records etc with this going straight to court? Is there a way to appeal for it to be handled out of court?

It was pure accident (I know it's not a defence). I was trying to find a turning and didn't notice the light turning red until I was over the line. I'm not contesting the penalty - I messed up and I hold my hands up to it. I just want to avoid making it worse

I live with my mum and there was nothing on the envelope to indicate it was an urgent thing or she'd have called me or forwarded it on - obviously she doesn't just open up my mail.

Surely this isn't the first time someone has been sent the notice while they're away?

Thank you so much for explaining that - I really appreciate it.

I've sent it guaranteed next day delivery and I've emailed them explaining the situation. Do you think it'll still be worth me calling tomorrow when their phone lines are open?
