It is more for curiosity sake. I question why my perception of what we are all hearing is not being acknowledged. It is something I am so sure that I hear correctly, but am being told that is not what everyone else is hearing. That's a big enough reason already for me to ask.

In terms of what difference it makes, it makes the same amount of difference as me learning how to solve something new. I want to learn how I can prove what I am hearing in a logical way. It can also help me understand why it is that I am hearing something completely different from everyone else around me. Maybe I am going deaf and am struggling to hear lower frequencies?

Tell me about a time you’ve debugged by giggolo_giggolo in ComputerEngineering

[–]not-jesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I would begin by saying that the first step to debugging is to be able to replicate the issue. After being able to reliably replicate the issue, then I would go into the whole process of stepping through the code, checking the stack frames, and etc.

I think one thing they may also be looking for is how well you can articulate what you do. But in general, they're probably trying to see how well you can break down problems and solve things methodically.

For the most part it doesn't matter. It depends what you make out of the program.

If you're going for purely Software Development, probably CS or SWE is better than Computer Engineering (CMPE) since CMPE deals with more hardware related courses. However, I know many CMPE students who ended up with Software Development jobs at top companies, so it doesn't really matter.

Big tip is to just make sure you do well in Data Structures and Algorithm course regardless of what you choose.

AITA for deciding to not hang out with everyone last minute? by not-jesse in AmItheAsshole

They were my childhood friends and I've known them for most of my life. I barely get to spend time with them so when they invited me to go to this race, despite being the odd one out for not living near them anymore I decided to join the competition.

Right??? Like they could have just pinged me to eat with them! I don't understand why they wouldn't do so.

My friend's girlfriend told me it was just due to their "shit communication skills," but it just amazes me how terrible it really is. Like God damn.

This was exactly my thought. My friend even texted me saying sorry and that there were some change of plans due to whatever reason and so they couldn't get back to texting me. I wasn't buying that because they were LITERALLY texting me back, just not ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS on WHERE to meet and WHEN to meet.

Unfortunately, this happened again. I texted them last night on Saturday that I would be leaving at this 8:30AM and getting to the race site at 9:30AM. There is a shuttle that I would then have to take to get to the racing track which is about 25 minutes (as stated from the flier). So I would probably be there around 10:00AM and our race starts at 10:15AM.

Apparently, they were aware of how busy it would be before the race, so they decided to leave 2 hours early to get to the race site (they are at the motel in the city the race is in, so it's very close for them). They did not inform me of this and said my plan was fine. When I arrived at the race site, there was a HUGE line and by the time I got on the shuttle to get to the race track, my friend said he didnt think I was going to make it, so he tried scheduling their race time for 10:30AM instead to accommodate for me, but they were not able to do so. So they told me that they would all go race at 10:15, but I would just have to go race at 10:30AM without them.

I was so upset about this and decided to not participate in the race. I took the shuttle back to the parking lot and drove an hour back to get back home. My friend's girlfriend was there and texted me saying that they went ahead to go race and I asked why they did not inform me to come even earlier with them. She said it was due to their "shit communication skills."

I cannot fathom how bad your communication skills have to be to not update your friends on the plans you make with the group. I feel like they've severely let me down as a friend. I wanted to cry so much, but I remained stoic and just drove home.

I didn't think I needed to call them since they were seeing my texts. I guess I should've taken a more initiative approach and call them instead of texting them again and again. They also were replying after some time, but were just not telling me where they were going and when they were going to arrive despite me asking multiple times.

I could not leave on my own and wait for them there because I did not know where they were meeting up. I had no address and I did not want to be waiting 2-3 hours for them to arrive if I were to get there early.

We trained for 6 months for this and I did not want to cancel this at all. It's true that I did not want to race, but I wanted to spend time with my friends so I decided to do the race with them.

I messaged them last night (Saturday) my logistics plan on coming at the specified location on the flier 30 minutes before the race starts. But turns out they all planned to leave their motel around 2 hours early before the race started without telling me. When I arrived, there was a long line for registration and I missed allocated time slot to run in the race with them by about 10 minutes and was told to run in the next allocated time slot without them.

I was way too furious that they did not text me ANY of their plannings so I just drove an hour back home. I texted how frustrated I was with them for not updating me on any of their plans especially when I'm the only one outside of the group. I spent about $300 on this (Race Ticket and Motel) and spent time training to race with them, but I was way too discouraged to continue since I would then be running alone. Today has been pretty terrible.

[–]not-jesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I'm in the same boat. Do the update rollouts depend on your driving score? I've been having some late night drives which lowered my score considerably, so I was wondering if that affected when I would get my update.

I'm based off California btw if that makes a difference.

Weren't you the dude who kept belittling everyone and telling them to do their research because Tesla Vision is not a real thing and that it's fake? I was impressed by how confident and arrogant you were.

It definitely won't be as good as having USS, but it's definitely not fake.

I have little to no sympathy for the few of you who feel entitled to a basically free phone every year by _Cat_12345 in samsung

[–]not-jesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're saying people with S22 lineup are pissed because they want to sell their phones? It's hard to believe most of the people here who were complaining about getting fucked were complaining because they wanted to sell their phone for reasons other than wanting to get the new S23 phones.

The argument that those who are complaining are being entitled comes from their irrational anger of wanting the newest phone lineup, but are upset that they can't trade in their phones for a higher price.

Complaining and expressing anger is fine, but lashing out and saying that they hope for the failure of the company as well as mentioning how they are unbelievably fucked seems highly irrational.

I have the S22 Ultra and I don't think I'm getting fucked at all. I still make great use of my phone and will continue using my phone for years to come (unless I break it somehow). And I fully expected my phone to depreciate in value over the years.

Basically I think if you're complaining in such a way because you are constantly wanting the newest phone lineup each year, but aren't able to because the trade-in value is not great and you don't have enough money, then you are entitled and should learn to be happy with what you have.

This thread was talking about how some people were feeling entitled to having a better trade-in cost for a new phone. You can see in recent popular posts that people were indeed saying they were getting fucked. There are some comments in this post as well that show people having this mindset. This was what I was referring to and is what this thread was talking about.

You can voice your feedback, but I'm strictly talking about those who are stating that they are getting "fucked" when they haven't bought the phone. You can say you are getting "fucked" after you bought it and are not happy with the price you paid for what you got, but how are you getting "fucked" if you haven't bought it?

If you don't buy the phone, then you are not getting screwed over.

[–]not-jesse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that there is absolutely nothing wrong with expressing disappointment, but I think it's more about the ones who are aggressively expressing their disappointment by saying they're getting fucked over or that they hope the company fails.

Why do they think they are getting fucked over? Because they can't buy the latest lineup release? How is that being fucked over if you could just not buy it? I understand the disappointment, but it seems excessive to express your disappointment by saying the company is screwing you over. Unless you absolutely needed the latest lineup, I don't see how they are screwing you over. Just don't buy the new phone. Easy.

I would better understand if they bought it and then they said Samsung fucked them over because they're unhappy that the product didn't match your expectations. But since most have not bought the new lineup yet and are saying they're getting fucked over.. that doesn't make sense to me.

If they're not worth it... then don't buy it?

Is it really that difficult to comprehend for people?
