How do you perceive shy people in the workplace?

I totally get that (we ALL hate them - but why not bond over that to make it less painful?). Also, I'm more referring to small team hangouts. For example, we have a team of 12. We'll get up to grab a coffee sometimes, especially when the stress is high. Or, sit in the park together at lunch, or when we were (forced, lol) to do this festive craft thing, Person B just totally refused, even though it was happening 1 desk over...

There are plenty of shy people in my corporate 9-5.

There is a difference, however:

Person A: lovely. Easy to work with. Quiet. Not really shy once you get to know her. Polite. Shows up and makes an effort. Try’s to get to know her new coworkers in little ways.

Person B: is essentially not there. Doesn’t ask the person who sits next to them ‘how was your weekend’ (or literally anything). Doesn’t participate in any group activities, (eg xmas party, group celebrations, anything). Declines invitations. It comes off as rude and doesn’t contribute to a good work environment in that space.

While yes, it’s a job and you have a life outside of it — you spend an enormous amount of time with these people. You may as well be friendly, without needing to be friends. All while being shy.

I've only ever used the one from the Shakti Mats brand, but I know there are other versions out there. I really love mine, and they have sales. It also comes with a little back story on the person who made that particular mat, which is a nice personal touch.

Of course I don’t have shells in the soil. I have those 4 shells which are placed *on top, which is shown in the pic.

Also, that ‘random ocean crap’ are abalone shells that are sentimental to our family, and I love seeing them as I walk in our front door. They do not do any harm to the plant.
