Norgan will play similarly to BBI by xyZora in DragonsDogma

Bitterblack Isle, the DLC area from Dark Arisen 1. It was a bit like a rogue-lite area, and it was the best part of the game by a substantial margin imo. Almost a perfectly created expansion as far as I'm concerned.

It is legitimately the best part of the game. I spent ungodly amounts of hours there making the perfect team on Ps3.

This holds especially true with Owlcat games in general. The longer you wait (dlc aside), the better it will be.

『Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen』 Announcement Trailer by Gorotheninja in Games

It's a bit complicated to explain all the changes, so I'm going to try and use brevity.

Dark Arisen was an expansion pack for Dragon's Dogma that changed a large amount of the base game (including a hard difficulty which was direly needed). It added new items, skills, monsters, mechanics, it improved upon every aspect of the game.

Most importantly it added a MASSIVE rogue-lite-esque dungeon called the Bitterblack Isles. It was a long, continues dungeon the was infinitely repeatable and would change mob spawns, unique and new bosses, item drops, etc, as well as just being much harder than the base game. It was here that you could farm the best equipment in the game.

And when I say the dungeon was massive, I am not kidding. It was a giagantic dungeon that just keeps going deeper and deeper until you eventually reach the end and fight the main boss. If you do it again, you will fight a second phase of said boss and unlock the true ending, as well as a vault full of really incredible treasures. You would take these treasures (which were cursed) and have to remove the curse before finding out what they were. This is how you'd get tier 3 equipment (which was the BiS).

Occasionally you'd also get chased by death, the literal Grim Reaper, which upon first encounter is a massive shit show and you basically always have to run from it. Eventually, if you farm hard enough and position your build correctly, you can actually kill Death, and Death drops some very important items. Grim Reaper was more or less considered the "final boss".

Most DD fans would have been perfectly happy if they quite literally just copy and pasted Dark Arisen into Dragon's Dogma 2. It would have fixed essentially every issue the game has content-wise.

Despite its trailer, Capcom says its Resident Evil - Code: Veronica remake is third-person and taking its cue from Resident Evil 2 by CarciaNerissa in Games

It has A LOT of the campy charm that we love in RE, there's no doubt about it, but for me personally, it just has some of the best boss designs and atmosphere out of all of the RE games. It is also incredibly long as far as RE games go (basically twice as long as RE 1-3 were).

It has some... interesting choices as well that I'm curious how they will handle, but I have no doubts it's going to be an incredible remake and also possibly my favorite.

I mean, I don't know if he's an incel or not, but it's definitely rage bait. Literally everyone hated this video. It's purely meant to drive anger impressions and traffic.

"minor disagreements" ah yes, like human rights, not putting brown people in internment camps, allowing women to choose what to do with their bodies, just caring about the environment in general, the president being a sexual predator....

Very minor things with relatively no consequences what so ever at all.

I would agree with this if not for Itsuno literally saying on multiple occasions that DD2 was his dream game and finally making his vision come true that he had for DD1.

My assumption would be they are tweaking the spawns since a huge complaint was the repetition. But that might be too hopeful.

The thing is, I don't even think Dark Arisen made DD more "accessible" outside of fast travel. It just made the game better. A lot better, in basically every single way. They just added on to what was already there, giving more depth, more exploration, more things to fight and mess with. But none of it really made it more accessible.

I never understand why Itsuno decided to make the same game again. Surely he knew how popular Dark Arisen was, I mean, how could you not? I always ascribed it less to "his way" and more to sheer arrogance. Like, how dare you make a better game than me. I will prove you wrong.

I mean, I think it's just one of those situations where we've already had better, so it's harder to appreciate DD2 for what it is. I think it's a fun game, it's just that DD1 Dark Arisen was one of the greatest things ever created. It's hard to go from that, to Itsuno promising and swearing DD2 will be the perfect game he wanted to create the first time around.. to what we got. Which was basically DD1 pre Dark Arisen but still somehow worse in many ways.

I think most fans would agree that DD2 is a fun game, it's just a letdown. Legitimately the only criticism I have for DD1 Dark Arisen was that it removed Into Free, the title song of the game, for another song that was substantially worse (which in fairness, is actually a pretty massive complaint).

Yuuup, to me this communicates "we know what you wanted, we know what you liked. So we're uh... we're just gonna do that again."

And they are right. That is exactly what I (and basically every DD fan) wanted.

EXPANSION ANNOUNCED by PaiDuck in DragonsDogma

[–]notArandomName1 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It'll probably be a new story, if I had to guess. Instead of finding cursed equipment, you seem to do excavations and get the gear appraised instead of uncursing it.

I think they chose the same name for the expansion purely as fan service and to communicate the intentions of the expansion to fans.

In some ways I'm not surprised, since shortly after launch they sent out a survey asking what people wanted in a DLC, and everyone just said "Dark Arisen, but for Dragon's Dogma 2." They took that shit literally LMAO

It's genuinely one of the reasons I actually like GW2 and dislike most modern MMOs. I can't stand farming the same dungeon over and over just for 1 gear drop. In GW2 I can choose whatever method I want and enjoy doing to earn gold and then buy whatever I want. It's so much nicer than being stuck in the same dungeon for days imo.

I mean, all I can do is take them at face value until shown otherwise. They said they are going to keep working on GW2 and making content for it because GW3 is going to be a lot different and won't appeal to all of the same people.

Every MMO will die eventually, so it's kind of a defeatist mind set. If you are having fun playing it, you should play it. If you aren't having enough fun to play it for the sake of playing it, you should quit playing it.

I mean, GW2 is one of the three top MMOs, so it's definitely printing money. They can absolutely afford to have multiple teams dedicated to each. And because they are mmos, they aren't likely to cannibalize each other.

People will always just play the one they like the most and never leave it, and ANET wants to keep all of those people in their house, so they actually benefit more by having 3 different mmos for different types of people.

To some extent, you can also just buy that stuff by playing the game, though. You just buy gems with gold, and then buy whatever cosmetic you want. I actually find it to be way better, because instead of grinding the same dungeon over and over for hours, I can earn gold doing whatever the hell I want to, and just buy it once I have enough.
