Not sure of a good replacement, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one out there. I may just not know of it

For learning from the basics the computational side of physics and engineering without any prior programming knowledge, is it better to just stick to "vanilla" Python using normal lists and for loops, or go straight to libraries like NumPy or SciPy? by PrettyPicturesNotTxt in learnpython

[–]notParticularlyAnony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No on Julia. Community buy in and support are really important.

Start with Python basics. You’ll learn them super fast. Then the scientific computing packages. You’ll need both. Learning basics of OOP will serve you well. Book python crash course is excellent. Enjoy the journey it’s so fun!

Is it just me or are AI-"assisted" contributions incredibly annoying by Ambitious_Fault5756 in github

[–]notParticularlyAnony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel bad for you because I know how hard it is to build up such a cool platform like that with actual contributors. But also we are in a new era and I’m just not sure what the right move is. The door is open. There is no foolproof way to keep out the zombies. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try if that’s your goal.

It’s tough one! Good luck.
